Brighton (A) | Post-Match Thread

I know it’s already been spoken about, but he’s literally about to blow for a foul on us. This is exactly why they should be accountable, and have to explain their decisions.

No, he was going to blow for a foul on Brighton. I think that is why Ferdy was laughing sarcastically.

After such a great start it was disconcerting how we fell apart. Everytime Brighton attacked they looked like scoring, particular in the second half. Only Gundo, Bernie and Phil emerged with any credit. The red card I'm not sure. Wellbeck was always going to play for it, somebody was grabbing someone's arm but it was hard to tell who. It should have been a red for the Gundo shocker. Talking of shockers we have the officials and I include var in that. The club really has to say something they were an utter disgrace tonight.

Talking of disgraces......I give you Brighton. In a nothing game and knowing we have a champions league final coming up they were a bunch of utter thugs, kicking any of our players within booting distance, allowed to get away with it all match of course.

The game turned on us having to fetch Garcia on and Rodri's inexplicable pass straight to a Brighton player when we'd just gone 2-0 up. Ten minutes more and they'd have lost heart, instead it's 2-1 and the crowd are up for it. Unforgivable error.

Garcia. In Spanish and English there are no words that do it justice to describe how bad this lad is. Brighton targeted his side all the time and no wonder. He is shocking.

People night say it's a nothing game and it was,but we don't want to start losing form, rhythm and confidence on the cusp of our biggest game of the season.

The fans are back has been the narrative all day.
What better way than if Brighton beat the mercenaries.
Refs told to make a game of it. Hence the red card for us and not for them.
I think the things that people don't pick up on is that most of the time it's not the big decision that fuck you over. Its the constant little fouls that are not given when you are down to 10 men that kill you. Rather than have a free kick on the half way line where you can push out and get a breather you are chasing back out of position because the ref hasn't given the foul. They know this but because its not a big decision its never picked up

That was a combination multi cluster fuck up with the Referee as its centrepiece.
Cancelo's foul was foolish but only a yellow in the context of the numerous ABH tackles from behind that Brighton were getting away with. The hapless Garcia was a mistake for me. Laporte should have been on but in his defence Garcia had zero cover in front of him.
Mahrez was not really interested and contributed little (however according to many he'd earned a night off so that's OK but he could have passed the shirt to Jesus) presumably Dias and Phil had not got sufficient credits to do likewise.
Rodri made a bad mistake but the domino effect it set off at the back was worrying.
When needed Ederson did a passable impression of Neville Southall in his late 50's.
The officiating was incompetent, inept and a stench of corruption in it as was the commentary I tuned into.
I think we went there thinking it was a dead rubber and it was till the ref intervened.
Stick 10 past Brighton next season as retribution.

Hope we send the kids out v everton, and if the pl kick off just show em some of the "highlights" of this game.

Sometimes we deserve to lose, sometimes we are unlucky and lose, shit happens.......but this was neither, this result was given to the home fans.

I honestly cannot think of one referee I am happy to have anymore, that means they have failed and need resetting because the game is not a game without fair officiating.
sums it up mate,im bothered about the Everton game and its just our luck someone is going to get knocked and it will cost us 'just know its going to happen' like you say play the squad and give the 1st team selection a full match on the training ground

Sounds like Gundogan was just a kick, so assuming he is ok for the final, I imagine Walker for Cancelo, Dinho for Rodri and De Bruyne for Torres and jobs a good'un.
I can't imagine Garcia getting much game time at Barcelona, he made Trossard look like a world beater tonight.

Yep, first red isn't even a foul, maybe welbeck on Cancelo but definitely not the other way.
Then did var even check for offside?
We'll see it after the game once they've had time to manipulate the image.
Once you know it is Atwell then we are open to shit refereeing performance

Can someone point me to the rule that you can’t commit a dangerous tackle if you’ve got a bent leg ? Or the rule that connecting with a players ankle before the ball is not a penalty?
It’s Law 24b, ”the normal rules of football do not apply when the decision might favour Manchester City”
