Brighton (A) | Post-Match Thread

They are paid professionals now and should have to explain why it wasn't given. We know we rarely get key decisions but Moss is one of the worst concerning us.
Until they are made accountable for their decisions, they will continue to get away with whatever they want.

I have a little empathy for the ref, but nothing for those hiding in Stockly Park, they are the ones ruining our game

does anyone know what the hell went on between Potter and our coaching staff at the final whistle. I have never seen us react like that. Pep also always speaks very highly of Potter. Strange.
He wasn't happy with Brighton's aggression and that coupled with the ref and VAR shit show sent us over the edge.
And they say the game isn't bent, as Pep says everything we have we have to earn, we get treated differently by the officials every fucking season.
Fuck you Brighton, hope you get relegated next season you bunch of thugs and fuck you Atwell too.

Don’t know if anyone else has posted this but here is an excellent article by Stuart Brennan in the MEN.

Surely the Club has to lodge an official complaint about last night.

well the ref thing has been done to death.....

Cancelo's defending for the high ball that led to a situation in which he ends up on the floor with Welbeck was pitiful - a big high thump up high and he ends up floating a toe towards it, not a good look.

Garcia was a mess, he got totally skinned umpteen times and basically allowed endless pressure from Brighton left. I sympathise he's a centre half at full back.

Rodri was particularly lackadaisical in the middle, and i thought Fern looked a bit lost as well, we couldn't retain any control with both of them in the middle, which was odd. Sometimes you dont notice we've got 10 men. I appreciate we didnt really win our share of free-kicks.

For a neutral the game was fun, chaotic and better than most dead rubber fayre, but it frustrated me greatly, I thought City were shit in the 2nd half from Foden's excellent goal onwards (other things withstanding). The defending in general was about the worst of the season, i dont want to hide behind the ref for some of that.
at 2-0 it should have been job done. Forget the ten men. We were in a 4-4-1 formation so had enough to close the game down. Brighton were very aggressive and the referee was as bent as I have seen but still....

Biggest factor I think was players not giving 100% because of risk of injury.

Fucking livid.
Probably the worst refereeing display I've ever seen, completely one-sided and only one word for it.. comical.
I can't believe shit like this is allowed to go on
I'm scratching my head about that, can't believe what I've seen.
We were fucking robbed by the referee.
I'm not surprised Pep and staff were fuming. Potter is a ****.
Hope Gundo is ok.
Goodbye Garcia.

Yes the evidence is there that dishonesty ,corruption are rife in decisions against Manchester City. Having said that ,City were all over the place with 10 men but that does not excuse the vile officiating .

I found the most irritating thing yesterday was yet again Walton on BT coming down in favour of a refs decision against City. Maybe it’s a case that he will back a ref regardless of whose playing?

That’s not true. It was to do with how potter celebrated the first goal. After the game you can lip read pep saying ‘no respect‘. Here is also a quote from potter re the incident.

Has he ever disagreed with the referees decision ? What is the point of BT having him there if all he does is rubber stamp the original decision ?

Not sure if we gained anything from that match!

Anyone notice that when we concede more than one goal Garcia is usually knocking about?

I don’t know how he is with other teams. I don’t watch Liverpool or Utd games (which I assume are the majority of games on BT). I agree with your “rubber stamp” point.

Well that and them having free run of the left wing and being able to ghost past Garcia at will and they exploited that time and time again, so much so Pep may as well have just switched to 3 at the back after the red card, it would hardly have been less affective tbh

And that risk of injury came from the referee allowing them to foul with impunity.
