Brighton (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Brilliant first half and maybe Rodri and stones tired a bit in the second, but good fighting spirit shown. Kyle got roasted in the second half…he can’t and should not expect to play every game at his age, needs to sit a few out and conserve energy for the games when we need him.

The red card was a pisser, we will miss Akanji’s pace next week.

The Boys in Blue didn’t give in. They fought to the end. Thank you City, thank you lads and thank you fans. Well done. You showed ‘em, you showed ‘em all. Especially the stupid, biased media. Especially the definitely Specsavers needing officials. Disgraceful. It didn’t work though did it? We still won you load of wallies. Get yourselves sorted out and start treating us fairly.

THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD. :-)

Welcome back John Boy. From what I read you did us proud. :-)

Tough second half, don’t know where our composure’s gone when under pressure, seems like we shit ourselves a bit atm.

Would love to see Webb come on and explain why Akanjis was a yellow, and Konates not ?

Thought we looked improved from previous weeks, especially in the first half.

Doku was good. Foden was much improved as well.

Want to see more danger and penetration from the right side.

Happy to see Stones looking like he was never gone.

It should end something like 6-2 for us ,promising preformance.
Need some calm and clear decisions in the last third

when they left theirs goal clear empty
Alvarez should pass the ball to Haaland instead of shooting it

Some very glaring inconsistencies in the refereeing made that a lot harder than it should have been.

We ended up with double the number of bookings and I can't even remember us putting a tackle in other than the Foden one which was given as a foul despite it being the cleanest challenge you'll see this year.

Akanji's first booking, it wasn't even Akanji who committed the initial foul.
Correct, it was Foden.

Good result despite the poor second half.
Doku makes the hard look easy and vice versa at times, good player but can do better in the final third, should've come off earlier.

Akanji made a similar mistake vs Wolves for Hwangs goal, doesn't clear the ball from danger and it costs us a goal, poor defending, he's not in our strongest 11 for me.

good first half, poor second half and looked like we were struggling fitness wise which is unusual.

Lot of good things but we just dont have a killer instinct like we did last season...we are getting into great areas but whether its the final pass/cross, or taking the wrong option/safe option we are just not hitting the heights we were last season...however its also the first time since the very start of the season where we have had nearly a full squad to go from....

Hopefully a load of them get a rest mid week - absolutely no need to go full strength or anywhere near it vs Young Boys in the CL......we are practically through and will go through top of the group....Do not play Stones for starters and you could argue against resting Haaland, Bernardo, Foden and Rodri as well...alongside Gvardiol and Walker

Losing Akanji for the derby is shit however...his pace vs the lack of it by other options would have been very useful against their speed and undoubted tactic of playing on the break...sure Pep will account for that however.
