Sterling is crap when he has to think about anything .. misses 121s and penalties as second nature.. I think he knows this and the very cynical nature in me from his body language was that his missed it on purpose as it was low risk as last minute and message to Pep to never pick him for pens when it really matters. Either that or it raises concerns why Kev or Gundogan didn’t take it..Agreed, but I definitely think Gundogan is better at it than Kev.
When we’re just getting back into form, games like Birmingham at home in the Cup and runs of games against teams scrapping for their lives in the Prem are not beneficial for us at all. Mindset is different compared to big games, ruins our flow and we get into bad habits too easily.Worst performance for a while, second half we were very sloppy and lethargic. The team looked tired in the second half and Pep should have brought on Dinho imo.
Please don't let Sterling take a penalty again, absolute shocker. Foden was brilliant again especially in the 1st half and what a finish.
Could you really see Brighton scoring tonight ? I couldn't. Even from corners, and with BT comms willing them to score, Ederson had to make 1 routine save from a 25 yard volley from a headed clearance. I was happy at 1-0 up and never thought they had the quality to score.Really hard fought win that, Brighton played very well (upped their game)
The defence is once again solid, and not conceded.
However, the only snag is in tight games like that, whether it be against Brighton or Barcelona...when the opportunity to go 2-0 arrives with a given penalty we cannot miss by blasting it over the bar (and that isnt just a moan at raz, but whoever's takes the pen going forward)
It could end up costing us, thankfully tonight it didn't
