I actually feel sorry for Steffen if he gets dropped, He had very little to do in games but what he had to do he done incredibly well. Even with the ball as feet he's comfortable and relaxed. Obviously he can't ping a 70 yard pass like Ederson but he's a seriously good keeper.
The good news for us is that he’s had this little run where he has proven to be an able deputy. Very comfortable with the passing ability required by Pep.

got a really difficult Feb coming up so need to hammer it home against these sides in next few weeks

It’s a real comfort to know that if ever we lose Ederson longterm for any reason, then we’ve got a keeper who can step in and, maybe with development and enough game time, even cement his spot between the sticks.
In previous squad iterations we’ve often had a stand out No.1 keeper then, in terms if capability, fell off a cliff edge to the No.2 keeper.

Regardless of some of the nonsense opinions, Claudio Bravo was, as a No.2 keeper, probably the best No.2 keeper in the Premier League (ignoring keepers out on loan because they’re too good to be a No.2 keeper).
Steffen is at that ‘easily good enough to be a No.1 elsewhere’ level but he’s staying in-house and we should all hug him for it.

PS. When I’ve had my jabs and when this covid thing is over, and subject to permission from the missus, and subject to suitable opportunity, I might just do that :-)

We should be top, given the fixtures.

We should be. But we drew against a United side who were there for the taking, if we'd been a bit braver (as we saw the other night), and against West Bromwich Albion, for God's sake, who — I'll say it now — will go down.
So I'm afraid I'm once bitten, twice shy.
I was looking at Liverpool and United's fixtures. They've both of them got a tricky month of January, it seems to me. Leicester's seems somewhat easier. (I simply don't believe in Tottenham as plausible title challengers — one bad injury to either of their two men would be serious, and injuries to both of them would make their challenge cave in completely. Of course, it may never happen).
This is our chance. I want maximum points by the end of the month for the remaining fixtures. But we know that every single team will park an aircraft carrier in their box and around it.
