I'll tell you what they teach them BLJ:
They teach them self confidence. They teach them resilience. They teach them a work ethic. They teach them to achieve and they teach them in fucking spades! And the difference to us state educated folk is genuinely profound.
Believe it or not. Like it or not that is what they teach them and that is why more often than not they succeed.

They teach them in small class sizes
They teach them in warm modern classrooms
They teach them on school playing fields with perfect pitches
They teach them with full bellies
They teach them with the best equipment
They teach them with the latest technology
They teach them with the best paid teachers


In my world every kid regardless of class, upbringing or wealth deserves to taught as above, not just the rich and powerful.


BTW in the interests of clarity can i point out Ed Miliband went to a state school

Ever get annoyed when you're driving home in your 15 year old astra and some 18 year old whizzes past you in a car you could never afford but his dad could? Does that annoy you that you work hard you have had to battle, start in the shit shuffling department, working your way up but he gets his nice things because his dad worked hard? Well times that by 1000 and that's the injustice of a private education!

So it annoys that some people work their rocks off to give their children all of the chances and opportunities in life that they never had?
Sounds like you are either very selfish, very jealous or probably both

No, not ever.

I don't even drive & I've not been jealous over a material item
since I was a child.

In fact, I can't recall the last time I was jealous really.

Well a recent previous head of the Metropolitan police went to Fearns comprehensive school in Stacksteads, Bacup, so there's always hope.

But yes, I suppose the old school tie will always be there...

Is that where he learned how to don a stab jacket so quickly...........

unfortunately, it also used to carry over to the armed forces. The nickname "Rupert" for an officer is not a coincidence.

Many years ago, i went to sandhurst with a dream and had it ruined by various tarquins and ruperts, their daddy was a retired major (but still called themselves major). Myself and one other were frowned upon from day 1 due to our northern accents and i wouldn't keep my mouth shut ;p

I'm glad to say that nowadays the catchment area for officer cadets has widened somewhat, but they are still guilty of cherry picking those at the top uni's and putting them on advanced promotion schemes.

There must be something of substance they have that others do not? Is it just a state of mind?

Once we have that identified and passed on successfully, then get them all up against the wall comrades :)

errrrr nooo........they teach them how to get through university interviews, how to get qualifications sufficient to get the best places at uni......the old school tie does all the rest
