British Justice ... it sucks in this instance.

I am gobsmacked as to what happens when convicted and a jail sentence is forthcoming, but what a total shock this has been for Anthony, his family and the rest of us.
Anthony has worn contact lenses for 12 years and as requested that his wife could bring in his lotion to clean his lenses as they were affecting his eyesight.
He was told that this would not be possible and he would have to wait until the optician would arrive at the centre ... another 12 weeks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anthony asked his wife to bring in a pair of glasses, that he had NOT worn for three years,to help supplement his eyesight and was told his wife would have to apply for a special licence from a Doctors Note to confirm that Anthony had an eye problem.
WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Never realised the hoops and rings you had to jump through, just to conform to prison life and my God I sincerely hope I never have to adhere to our UK rules and regulations within the Prison System.
I know and I understand the feelings of the adage "you live by the sword and die by the sword" but after talking to that many people in my local, where this so called attack took place, many are disgusted, but NOT as much as me,as some could have helped Ant out,but chose to "keep quiet "based on their assumption that keeping schtum, would help Ant more than not.

Great friends
Great pub

And we all thought doing a stretch was a piece if piss.

Wait til she tries to turn up for his Saturday night nookie.

Well maybe he will remember all this the next time he fancies following someone into the bogs to give them a kicking. He is a prisoner now, he is there to be punished so obviously things aren't going to be like they are on the outside.

Hey I think you are missing the point.I am NOT talking just about Anthony, but the overall system that I,nor I doubt many of you, like me were not aware of, as to what life inside prison is actually like.
How many of us,myself included, have heard that prisoners have an easy life ?? 23 hours locked up must be shit, irrespective of who it is.
Things have opened my eyes ref the prison systems and how individuals lose more than their freedom. And before you start,I`m talking about ALL prisoners,NOT one individual.

I've got quite a bit of prison experience (albeit on a professional basis) and all the crap about prisons being holiday camps is myth rather than reality in my experience.

The two people who decided to keep schtum were gob-smacked last night when they found out the sentence and were very sheepish for the rest of the night.
By all accounts the guy who got hit could be in trouble with our Tax Officials for non declaration of car sales.Cloud, silver lining etc !!

I'm not being funny mate, but you really need to let this go, as your obsession with this Ant nutter is bordering on the unhealthy.
The victim here was violently assaulted here for no good reason, yet somehow in your warped parallel universe you consider that some **** grassing him up for tax evasion is a weird form of karma, and that he deserves it.
He was the victim of a violent crime, at the hands of your 'butter wouldn't melt' mate, and whatever else he may or may not have done doesn't mean he warranted being attacked when going for a piss.
All that gloating over the possibility of him being done for tax fraud does is make you look petty and spiteful.

The rules and regulations of our prison system? I think in comparison to other countries, we run a relaxed programme.

I'm also repeatedly told that it's a doddle with a decent array of luxeries to hand so he should be okay

I know a couple of lads, good friends at the time, who have done time for violent offences, and I can say with some certainty, that the punishment starts on day one of being nicked!

Everything about the whole process seems to be designed to frustrate and confuse, inconvenience and intimidate.

Whether this is good or bad I'm not sure, as both lads were guilty as sin (although one of them swore blind he was innocent blah, blah, blah, but when the evidence came out in court he was bang at it).

Another mate got nicked for growing ganja in his spare bedroom, and went through hell for just over a year, as he was convinced, on solicitor's advice, that he was going to jail - lost his job, girlfriend, and started drinking heavily, all before sentencing. (He got community service and on probation for twelve months in the end).

So, to most of the population, jail is fucking horrible and well worth keeping on the right side of the law for - for some others, it's a holiday camp compared to life on the outside, but they need help IMHO.

I don't think you have a clue what you're talking about.
Over the past 20 years, I have undertaken assessments of inmates at almost every prison in Britain, and they are, in the main, horrendous places, where intimidation and bullying from staff and inmates are rife, drugs of every kind are easily accessed, (often via prison staff), and self harming and suicide attempts commonplace.
They are also ludicrously overcrowded and unsafe, and luxuries, (whatever they are), are virtually non existent.
But then I'm sure the article you read in the Daily Mail knows best.

I honestly don't know what the fuck you're on about here mate.
You are the one who is constantly pimping this thread, and telling us how this is all a terrible miscarriage of justice.
Your mate has accepted his punishment and decided not to appeal - now whether you like it or not, that implies to me that he has been strongly advised that an appeal may gain him an even longer sentence.
Which, reading between the lines, implies that both the judge and 99.9% of this forum are correct, and that Ant has been telling you a somewhat different version of events to what transpired, namely involving the bottle.
The victim not declaring tax has fuck all to do with this.
It's like saying Derek Bentley deserved to hang because his library books were outstanding.
Nobody deserves to suffer an unprovoked attack when taking a piss.
Even if they are doing it in the sink.
Your mate has clearly decided to do the time because he did the crime, and get on with his life, so unless you fancy doing a one man candlelight vigil on Southall Street until he's released, I suggest you do the same.

What do these people who kept quite think it is they could have said that would have altered the sentence?

Also, what has this bloke who has never done an honest days work in his life been avoiding paying tax on?

Stay away from the thread if it gives you that much consternation,a very easy solution.

What gives me 'consternation' is you talking utter shite.
Your 'mate' is a convicted violent thug, whether you like it or not.
You also stated earlier that the victim had never done a day's work in his life - now he's a fucking car salesman all of a sudden.
There is no point in trying to discuss this rationally with you, because you are simply blind to the truth, because Ant is a friend.
Loyalty is an admirable commodity, but in your case it means you can't see the wood for the trees here.
Anyway, I'll leave you to your campaign for 'justice'.

You calling me a Daily Mail reader? Never been so offended!

I was talking about about rules and regulations compared to other countries and you ventured off point.
As far having no clue, I would suggest that I've got a better idea that most, not saying prisons aren't overcrowded and unpleasant but that's a different argument

A private car salesman who works from his home.I think you need to look back on the posts because not only once, twice or thrice times I have stated that he admitted his guilt but a denial of striking someone with a bottle that never existed.
I certainly don`t support Ant for what he`s done but talking about being blind is ridiculous but then again you are doing exactly the same and condeming him for something which never actually happened.
As many people have said of you in the past,a dog with a bone with a lot of wummery.Just read back on your posts to the American guys.WOW talk about me being blind, you take the biscuit.

By saying to the police in a report that Anthony had NO glass/bottle with him when entering the bogs.
