Bruno Fernandes

Does anyone think Douglas Luiz will get a work permit for next season, then we probably wouldn't need Fernandes, I seem to remember Pep was very keen on Douglas linking up with the first team.

Or, most likely, the club wanted more options when it came to loaning/selling the player.

I don't know why people keep saying it's either Felix or Bruno. From what i've seen, Felix is more of an striker/second striker. This guy is an AM/CM.

Felix would replace/complete with Jesus/Aguero. Bruno would perhaps replace Gundogan as one of the #8s.

Lol.

On a serious note, Pep went after Fred, Jorginho & Frenkie De Jong.

Don't you see Bruno posses similar qualities to the above more than Rodri who is more defensive ?

Considering that Jorginho wasn't DM at Napoli, it was Allen.

For Ajax, FDJ is not DM he is CM.
They were both ( De Jong and Jorghino) deep lying playmakers. At Napoli Allan was the battling midfielder... Actually both he and Hamsik are better versions of Milner. While Jorghino sat between and behind both. People often called Allan the defensive mid, which I always thought was a play on words. By defensive they meant he did more tackling.

Positionally, Jorghino played the exact position for Napoli that he currently plays for Chelsea. And Kante is playing the position Allan played.

De Jong has played everywhere. From a stint at CB to single pivot, joint pivot, and AM. But his style is a supercharged version of Gundogan's. Jorghino also is kinda like Gundogan.

But from jump, I've always thought the next evolution of our offense would be a natural playmaker at DM.

Bruno is a more skillful player than Rodrigo, but I'm not certain that automatically means he'll be a better deep lying playmaker. If we get Bruno my guess is he'll be here to play the 8 and not the 6.

That's the sense I get from watching his highlights.

In fairness, I always have an eye on the foreign player limits and positional needs when viewing these things.

So if we get both my sense is we'd have an overstock. Aguero and Jesus ( play striker). Felix can play striker too but that would be overcrowded. Support striker on our team is pretty much the David Silva 8. You can see from his heat map that he is the one with 18 yard box entry responsibility. And he always plays closer to Aguero. Similar for Foden and Gundogan when they play that role. (The left 8 is more AM/SS) while the (right 8 is more of an AM/CM). Hence why I think it will be either or. Unless Bruno is being primed for the DM role

"ESPN Sources" say that Silva is interested to move to Japan, to the same team where Iniesta plays.
I think they are putting 2 and 2 and getting 5. Dave's heritage, and 2 of his best pals on the team. It's an easy rumor to start.

To be honest,we wouldn't get Felix without selling one of our forwards. Jesus or Mahrez would be the most likely to be sold.

Did wonder if we’d try to send Mahrez back to Leicester as past of a Chilwell or Maguire deal? Unlikely but I honestly wonder how Mahrez will get playing time with Sterling and Bernardo ahead of him.

But Sam Lee mentioned Pep's interest in Felix as part of his desire for another striker (along with Luka Jovic).

Jesus just renewed his contract & Pep said Mahrez will be here next year & the year after.
Contracts don't mean much if they are not key players and Jesus is not. Iheanacho signed new deal in August 2016 and was shipped off year later for example. About Mahrez, well he might not leave, but what else Pep is going to say? His value would drop even more if he said "yes we are considering selling ihm"

Unless this is Aguero's last season, it won't work. Not enough game time for 3 strikers.
Unless we buy him now, in case of a ban, but leave him at Benfica for a year like we have with Palaversa and Zack Steffen.

My sense is that Felix is being sought in order for us to move to a 3-5-2 type formation with two of Aguero, Felix and Jesus playing. I don't think Felix's strengths would be properly utilized if he has plenty of responsibility in the middle of the park.

This is a bit wierd because the people that automatically loose out if we go this route are our wide attackers bar Bernado who is very comfortable playing deeper. Its a bit funny because its in wide attacking areas we are probably the most stocked. I do not want to see anything hinder Sane, Sterling, Mahrez's development so I'm not sure this is an idea I fancy even though I feel we'd look more solid and efficient with two proper forwards and a semblance of back 5 when we defend.

On the other hand I can see this move giving us more variety in the way we set up in games.
