Same here. I tried to give blood when I lived in Germany, no chance. Exact same here in Austria

I have a relatively rare blood type and when I was younger used to give platelets (for cancer patients, I think). They had me on speed dial! I would get to 1 week until the next time I could donate and they’d be calling every day to make an appointment.

Mad cow outbreak in UK and new rules went into effect. Can’t do it any longer in the US, so I try to do it in the UK when I’m there.

My Dad had some medals and stuff for the blood he gave. He was a regular from being a young man and I guess it always just seemed like the naturally right thing to do after seeing him doing it.
