BT Sport about to snatch the CL off Sky/ITV?

Everybody on here who thinks this is going to be a good thing are going to be very disappointed.
BT have paid a ridiculous amount of money for the rights and have to recoup that somehow, that means YOU paying more.
BT aren't exactly the cheapest option now, we've just swapped to Sky broadband (they've only just rolled out in our area) and are paying half price (£3.75 a month for 12 months) compared to BTs offer of £17 odd. The only extra they could throw in was BT sports free and a claim that I'll get better speeds from them (as it turns out I get 18Mbs compared to their 17Mbs on copper pair so go figure).
BT CANNOT compete on price with Sky or even Virgin.
And anyone who thinks Sky are on the decline are really grasping, they're a monster company and are going nowhere. BT Sports could easily do a Setanta and disappear up Michael Owens backside which would be the only interesting thing about the man.

BT, as a company, are four times bigger than sky. BT can well afford to take a few knocks and have a lost leader for a several years.

Hmm, I found that unlikely to be honest but I checked and BT as a company are approximately 2½ times the size of BSkyB so I'll give you that.
Perhaps then I should change it to BT WILL NOT compete on price with Sky or even Virgin ;)

I still think it's a possibility given how much they've paid that the BT Sports arm could do a Setanta.

Excellent news - both Sky and ITV fucked off from CL in one fell swoop

As a Virgin Media XL subscriber I shall be smugger than a smug thing in smugsville too!
Another Smugsville resident here unless Beardy Branson ups the prices.

Room for another on the ss smugsville ?

Just to note the fella who bought the franchise hates Murdoch.
I knew he would sort bt sport for us virgin subscribers due to this.
He will never let Murdoch get the better of him, proper dislikes him.
I know this only concerns us and sky but still good to know his hate makes us get better stuff and cheap.

Streaming piracy is our only control over their charges.

Its funny how competition through out the years has meant cheaper stuff, products etc unless you try and apply this rule to energy or TV

It's been said several times that there is no real competition in the UK energy market.

And if the TV licence fee were abolished, Sty and Virgin charges would go through the roof, IMHO.

Me and my mates were discussing this earlier down the pub, how many people subscribe to sky because of their football coverage? In other words what percentage of customers would seriously considered sacking sky sports off if they lost the majority of premier league matches and were reduced to one a week?

We settled on the figure of 80-90% which would have serious implications on them being able to retain Cricket, F1, Rugby and Tennis rights? Plus would another provider be willing to pay what sky has paid for all these events and would these sports be willing to sell to someone at a vastly reduced price? This could have major implication for all sports coverage in the UK.

For all those being smug we can't get Virgin in our area due to the council saying years ago that they didn't want all the roads and pavements digging up....pffft !!!

We can get it, but I wouldn't touch them with a shitty stick. They lie like rugs and the cunts still owe me £85 from about 3 years ago. I'd rather go back to terrestrial tv than those lying, thieving whores. Branson is a **** too, beardy wanker.
