BT Sport about to snatch the CL off Sky/ITV?

I heard something on Talksport about once BT have full control over the CL rights they will start doing pay per view on the games on top of the subscription fee, something like that anyway!

Either way what a joke!!

The free BT Sport with BT broadband won't last forever as well as its just not financially stable for the company, we pay for BT Sport in our house as we have SKY broadband and at this moment in time we are looking to get rid of it because its simply too expensive for what you get, I think overall the PL coverage and punditry is average!

SKY will look like they will start going downhill once it happens if you ask me and BT's PL coverage will only increase, shame really because their coverage and punditry is first class!

Talksport who are in bed with sky ?

If i remember it was a guy from the Telegraph who said it when reviewing tomorrows back pages.

I am sure I heard him saying at the moment SKY pay UEFA around 80m for TV rights, BT have offered a 1billion I think he said!!

SKY have no chance!

BT have upped the ante. Massive news. Blown Sky right out of the water. But it won't be until 2015 so if you're still stuck in a contract with Sky you will have plenty of time to get out of it. I doubt it will be more than what Sky charge.

If BT charge these rumoured pay per view costs on top of subscription it will flop massively.

It's the punditry, lineup and layout of BT Sport that gets me at the moment because I think it's absolutely dire and doesn't even come close to SKY!

Neville and co will inevitably jump ship when BT have full control and increase their PL coverage, same with Tyler as commentator!

In fact BT will likely try and look to take SKY's best pundits, especially with them most probably taking all of SKY Sports customers eventually.

It works in the US that type of PPV model, doesn't it?

Sky have dominated for so long, it would be nice to have someone else take over for awhile.

I wouldn't want to pay PPV on top of a £15 a month subscription though, that is just an extreme form of exploiting football fans if you ask me because like fools we will pay it!

I don't mind BT taking over, but it's miles away from rivalling SKY at the moment, the service they give us is spot on, even if it does sound abit anti-City at times!

True that. As City fans we care so much about our club we would leave ourselves short in other areas to pay it..

Let's wait and see what BT have planned first.

Isn't the reason UEFA are happy with BT is also because BT can provide access to free to air to everyone in The UK, whereas with Sly Sports only people who can watch The CL on SS are subscribers of Sly... advertising revenue will skyrocket for these games if shown on BT rather than Sly.

Absolutely not. UEFA are hugely biased against free-to-air broadcasting. They hate it. The revenue from TV companies buying rights to the games is far more important to them than the amount of viewers looking at the sponsors - after all, the sponsors pay them to get their names on the boards, so it's the sponsors' jobs to actually make money off their brand awareness, not UEFA's.

Remember that it took an Act of Parliament to prevent UEFA dictating that all England games had to be broadcast via subscription-only channels, and even then there was talk of UEFA putting a boycott on England if they passed the law, though they wimped out in the end.
