Why would we want to sign Glen Johnson? He isn't as good as Zabba and is about the same level as Micah. Just because he has one good game against a pub full back he suddenly a 15-20 mil player....?

As a company you are about to launch a new MCTV media on 1st July from a marketing point of view you will need to give it the best launch possible. Tie into that Tevezs contract with scum doesn't end until 30th June and if we have done a deal for Eto o what better way to launch the new media with exclusive signing of a player of that caliber, followed a week later by Tevez (or vice versa) last thing you want is to sign all the big hitters in June and have fuck all to show on 1st July. We will have to sit, chill out and wait.

About 75% of transfers we are looking at, Barry obviously in the other 25%, want competitive European football.

The most obvious case of 'BTOOTW' not working was Kaka.

We will soon find out (probably by next week) whether Tevez is in the same camp as Barry.

Almost certainly players like Villa, Silva, Ibrahimovic, Eto'o, Robben, Sneijder, Fabiano and Pato would be in the 75% group, demanding CL football a priority..

What holds us back is the perception (with overseas players particularly) that Hughes, despite his success as a player at United and Barcelona, has no charisma or international standing as a coach. Compared to, that is, Wenger, Ancelotti, Ferguson, Benitez, Mourinho, etc etc, all having won trophies on a regular basis.

In the meantime the City BoD will persevere with MH and judge him on his signings this close season and of course the first eight results in August September. If things go badly, he will be replaced quicksticks.

Disagree. If we want to tell the rest of the footballing world that we mean business, we'll get a few top quality signings in straight away. Plus, what's the point in giving other teams the opportunity to come in and steal our signings by not concluding them when we have the chance. IMV we need to get the players signed up sharpish. If we get Teves to sign on the dotted line it will send out a huge message to the rest of the footballing world and players like Eto'o or Forlan who may have been thinking twice about joining City will stand up and take note. Plus, the club will not have any problems of making the launch of MCTV big if we have top players present, regardless of when they signed.

clearly to me blow them out the water with our finances just is not working..we have had months to cheery pick our targets so we should not still be thinking who should we buy ..hughes should of told the board who and what he wants ..so where are they..looks like the money side just aint enough

i know what you are saying but its not all about money, on both sides.
the player may be a world beater on the face of it but if he's always doing an elano then we dont want him.
hughes is super vigilant on the players background and lifestyle, and rightly so considering the sums involved.

I hadn't thought of that Rammy. I still think the Sheikh ought to make an offer for Setanta...

As an aside, watching Brazil v Paraguay, the commentator mentioned "Manchester City" everytime Robbie touched the ball, which was nice of him. During the Argentina v Ecuador game we were also mentioned a lot.

Our goal this coming season is top 6 isn't it? If we can hold our home form, improve away, and do something about our weak, limited, and suicidal defence (a defence which also contributes next-to-nothing in attack) we'll be fine. There are enough good players throughout the world that we can get and will improve us as a team. This "BIG NAME" dick-waving is getting out of hand, and it's the mirror of the outrageous sentimentality that stops blues identifying players who need culling.

Having said that, are we getting Aguero or what!?
