Re: Bundesliga review
I was fortunate to be there during the "halcyon" days. The '85 Cup Win against Bayern...(although we were lucky).... followed by the European excursion and the 1-3 to 7-5 comeback at the Grotenburg to Dynamo Dresden before the semi-final defeat to Barca. Great Days.
Bayer 05 played in Sky blue then before the change to red and blue stripes. Matty Herget, the Funkel Brothers, Holger Fach, Stefan K*ntz, Marcel Witecek and the Danes Jan Bartram and Brian Laudrup, Daniel Timofte (RIP) from Romania... and one of the most eccentric goalkeepers ever Siggy Grunninger.
So glad to see them in the German Third Division... the only way is up!
Ahhhh!... John van Buskirk I think was his name. Good player and a fans favourite.Tbilisi said:My Wifes family moved to Manchester from Krefeld at the turn of the century as it was linked to Manchester regarding textiles.
Bayer were a big sponsor when I watched them on TV in the 90s but when they withdrew it all fell apart.Seem to recall they had an American playing for them at the time who I always wanted City to sign.
