Die Schanzer or FCI are not very popular in the eyes of german football fans. With an average attendance of 7.500 they would be another very small club in the Bundesliga. The reason they are on top is manly the management and sponsoring by Audi. Ingolstadt has a popular ice-hockey club by the way.
I figured they weren't liked due to their corporate ownership (similar to Wolfsburg and Leverkusen?) but after their fantastic start I wanted to do a piece on them and the success that run could have on the club.

Anyway, what's your take on Schalke's defeat last night? And your opinion on Di Matteo.

Schalke Chelsea 2:0

ok was Youth League U19

We should let play youth players instead of former Bayern and Doofmund crab Kirchhoff and Santana. They will never learn.
The youngones there still is a chance.

Good result for the youth team, as Chelsea are quite a good side at that level. However, Schalke are always good at youth level, but still a good result. Where are they in their group?

Everton beat Wolfburg to make it 4-0 to the English clubs: I think that was 12-2 on aggregate. Wolfsburg had more possession, but they were naive defensively and were made to pay. You have to give Martinez credit, because unlike a lot of managers in Germany he is not afraid to change his tactics to match the opposition. Wolfsburg kept shooting from range, but lacked a clinical striker and their defence is not what it should be.

Everton defended well in numbers and were lethal on the break.

Which is why you have to give Martinez credit. Ideally he would love to play a possession game, but he was not afraid to switch up the tactics. Etoo was a fantastic signing for them as well. He will give them that European experience and it must be great for the team to see a thrice champion of Europe when they go abroad. If not too many big guns get knocked they have a real shot at this. He is rotating well especially considering they have s many injuries.

Still think the quality of the Bundesliga is higher than the Premiership despite the results, but not sure they will do better than the English teams anymore.

Pep hasn't learnt from last year and will lose to Chelsea/Madrid/Barca unless he changes his tactics.
Leverkusen are bottlers and need to win at Benfica to top the group.
Schalke are in the most trouble, because Mourinho will play a complete second string. I am not sure if any of the main players ie Fabregas, Costa, Hazard, Matic, Courtois, Terry will start.
Dortmund just have average players at the moment. The only bonus for them is Gundogan looks like he will get back to his best. Even with all the average players they have in their side, stick Gundogan, Reus, Hummels, Bender, Sokratis and Piszcek together, then you have a shot at anyone.

Currently the team and the club manager are under fire. Jermaine Jones, a former player, now in the US, made a twitter message during the match, that manager Horst Heldt is ruining the club. That gave the press a lot to jump on the bandwagon.

I am not very happy about di Matteo. I think a coach with experience in the Bundesliga, who likes to work with young talents and could inspire more passion and team spirit, would have been the right choice.
Di Matteo is a cool analyst, his whole coaching team don´t know much about the Bundesliga, the goalkeeper coach does not even speak german. And he is changing the system too often, a 5-3-2 against Wolfsburg, a 4-4-2 against Chelsea. It was obvious, that some players couldn´t handle it.

So you'd have liked to see Tuchel in charge? In my opinion, he'd have been the best appointment.

I'm after a little bit of advice from the German based posters please, particularly those in and around Köln and Dusseldorf.

Going to City v Roma next week and on the way back I'm going to Germany for a few days. I'm in the process of ticking off each Bundesliga and the ones I'm ticking off this time will take me up to 12 out of 18 (plus a few lower league grounds).

Anyway on Sunday 14th December, I'm going to Leverkusen v Mönchengladbach, before flying home from Dusseldorf that evening. The match is at 15.30, and my flight is at 20.55. I'll have my bag (which I wouldn't be allowed to take into the ground) and Leverkusen Mitte doesn't seem to have any lockers (Schließfach), so would you guys leave it in a locker at Köln hbf or travel to Dusseldorf hbf before the game and leave it there? I've looked at the timings and although its possible, I'm a bit concerned there much allowance for anything going wrong trying to get from the stadium to Köln hbf and then to Dusseldorf airport in time for the flight. Is there another option I've not considered?

Also I'll be missing the City v Leicester game on the Saturday and I want to know if there are any Premier League highlights shownon German tv in the evening? What channel / time?
