Cheers Mate

We're actually staying at the IBIS, adjacent to the Bochum hauptbahnhof on the Friday evening.
Is there a time period when you can start using your match ticket as a train ticket because we'll probably be arriving in Bochum around midday.
Similarly, on the Saturday can we use our Cologne-Monchengladbach match tickets, all the way from Bochum to Cologne, or is there some kind of boundary limit?

Doesn't say so on their website, it says "valid on match day" only, so should be alright to get to Bochum early with S-Bahn, RE trains and other regional trains, no IC, ICE and EC fast trains (probably because VRR/ Rhein-Ruhr region is far bigger than VRS/ Köln-Bonn-Rhein-Sieg region, whereas e.g. Cologne match ticket is valid 4 hrs before kick off until 3:00 in the night.)

No, Cologne match ticket is only valid for the VRS region, if you go via Düsseldorf (e.g RE6 or RE1) it's valid from Langenfeld (Rhineland) to Cologne only, so you should buy an additional ticket to cover for the way between Bochum and Langenfeld (or Cologne) (or a VRR day ticket or Schöner Tag single/group (up to five people) ticket for 42€ (sometimes there's others who offer to share or sth, whichever is cheaper- depends really). Simplest way might be to get a Deutsche Bahn ticket from Bochum to Cologne (currently saver for 19€ for the direct fast IC/ICE train e.g 11:24 (just about 1 hour journey)

Yes, I've heard about the in-joke conspiracy theory, which apparently even Angela Merkel has shared.
All I know is that it's close to the Teutoburg Forest where the Germanic tribes once formed an alliance to destroy the Roman Army. I believe old Herman might have had something to do with that.

Thats spot on..The chieftain leading the german tribes was a guy called Arminus which later on got nicknamed "Herman" for whatever reason.

During the battle of the Teutoburger Forest the German tribes destroyed 3 full Roman Legions and it ended the efforts of the Roman empire to include the areas to the right side of the river Rhine into their empire.

This thread is a real "EierlegendeWollmilchsau" (Kudos to whoever gets this of our English friends ;) )...you can not just talk about the Bundesliga, but you get a top notch education about our traffic system and history as well. ;)

Just dont mention the war!

Haha.
Yes, I remember from my Military History studies that Arminius was a master tactician.
Perhaps, he could have found a way for Gerrard and Lampard to play in the same system.

From my experience ,there's only one thing to learn from the German railway system.

It's better than ours.

I only live roughly 20 miles South of Manchester, but if travel by train, I get home about 90 minutes after the Final Whistle (and that's the early train)

good old Arminius gave Arminia Bielefeld the name.

The Alm, their ground, must be about 20 minutes to walk from the station. One of the last grounds, that is really in the city, not far out.

Bochum and Freiburg really setting the pace in the 2. Liga early in the season, with 16 and 15 points respectively after 6 matches. Highly rated Kaiserslautern is only on 8 pts. out of 6 and will have to battle to keep up with the table toppers, not to mention Düsseldorf and Union Berlin, who surprisingly might find themselves down in the dog fight for survival rather than into the race for promotion.

Moenchengladbach got a hammering 0-3 at home to Hamburg I see.
Saving themselves for the CL or do they seem to have regressed from last season?
