They are a bit of a strange team....they do well one season, terrible the next, do well again and this cycle seems to continue for a while.

You need to eat a Currywurst at their ground and you can look forward to the rendition of Grönemeyer's Bochum prematch.

Ah currywurst I remember them well and also the roast chickens! Your english is superb Herr Bembel by the way.

Thanks! Seems years of lurking on English football forums pays off in the end.

Now I I just have to get rid of the German accent somehow, but I take it that reading on Bluemoon alone won't help much with that one.

Anyone got a job offer in Manchester? ;)

Klass Jan Hunterlaar has still got it

It's easy to see how Bayern walk this league. I've watched a few games this season and there is a lot of space for a team like Bayern to exploit

Kein problem. You could become our scout in Germany!

I presume that you're older than me, but in general, how does Frankfurt remember Dragoslav Stepanovic, either as a player, or Manager?
I recall him being described as a "Crack" East European when City first signed him in 1979, but other C words soon sprung to mind, clueless and clown, being two of the more polite ones.
At City, he just seemed to spend the whole game laughing to himself, a 4-0 defeat at home to Sunderland being the final nail in the coffin.

Stepi is a bit of a cult figure in Germany....when he coached us for the first time we almost won the league In 91/92. We went into the last match of the season and would just have needed a draw at Rostock who were already relegated.

Well...Typical Frankfurt we fucked it up, lost due to a dodgy penalty decision and never got back that close to winning it.

When he managed us the second time we got relegated for the first time. His only comment was "Lebbe geht weider" which translates to "Life goes on" and which became a common expression among Frankfurt supporters whenever something bad happens to the club or in life.

His daughter is married to one of our ex players. A guy called Slobodan Komljenovic who played for us a total of 6 years.

But yeah, overall you are most likely right. It felt like he was never good enough to be a coach or have the right attitude to do the job. Bit strange considering what kind of a player he was.
