Agree with Bembel,

Stuttgart deserves a time in the "Unterhaus". Would be funny to see their fierce rivals Karlsruhe go up the same time. Or Stuttgarter Kickers being promoted to Bundesliga 2. Paderborn is my other favorite, too. Their coach thanking Bayern for the experience of playing them and being trashed 6-0 was too much. Really no need for clubs like these in the Bundesliga.

If Stuttgart do down then someone should snap up Werner. He has so much potential, but needs to start playing behind the striker.

If Pep continues to play a 4-2-3-1 with Rode in the team then hard to see anyone troubling Bayern in the CL even. As long as he keeps it simple they are just too good for everyone. Even without Robben/Ribery they were brilliant. Muller's movement was exceptional. The guy is a genius. Schweinsteigger is the best midfielder in the world for me and getting back to his best. As long as Pep does not over complicate things by playing Lahm/Alonso in the big games or playing strange formations they should crush everyone. It's scary how many top players they have. Never seen a team like it. Only stupid tactics and poor selection can stop them.

Also saw the Dortmund game and they were terrible. They simply cannot pass and spend the game hitting it long to Aubameyang. Pep might have as well bought Crouch. The team needs a massive overhaul in the summer and they probably won't even have Europa League let alone CL. The only players they need to keep are Hummels, Sokratis, Bender, Reus and Kampl. Gundogan too if he signs a contract, but he does not deserve anywhere near the money Reus is on. Obviously cannot sell half the team, but they need to get rid of Weidenfeller, Jojic, Ramos, Immobile, Mkhitaryan and kagawa. Use the money they get from that to reinvest in German youth like Werner and Horn. Try and find a young full back somewhere and above all get a world class 10.

I fancy a trip to Stuttgart to watch Ingolstadt next year, I think I've confined myself that we're not going up.. Probably won't struggle for tickets in the away end though.

I had a chat with some Stuttgart fans in September after seeing a game there. They had just been beaten by Hoppenheim and the ones I spoke with WANTED to be relegated. They thought it would mean they could start over and they would be able to build the team around their young players (assuming that they don't get sold) with less pressure. In the long term they thought it would be good for the club.

One of the advantages of going down was so they could play Karlsruhe so that could be a problem if Karlsruhe get promoted!

There are far more clubs in Buli 2 and even 3rd Liga I'd prefer were in the Bundesliga instead of Paderborn, so I too would be happy for them to go down.

A couple of years ago I had similar thoughts about Cologne when they had yet an abysmal season and just avoided relegation. However, they were relegated one or two seasons later and never really recovered, as they started to ping-pong between Bundesliga and 2. Liga. It's nice to get promoted, but you don't want that kind of thing every other year.

I think people really underestimate what it means to go down to the 2nd division.

The past has shown that all the "big" clubs that had to go down ( Kaiserslautern, Cologne, Nürnberg and Frankfurt) never fully recovered from it. All of those clubs are clubs with a successfull history, huge following etc. and still they spend most of their time between 1st and 2nd division in the last couple of years.

From a financial point of view the 2nd division is a disaster and clubs going down will fall behind the rest of the pack even more.

Now that there are relegation play offs it has become a lot harder as well to get promoted. Only the first two teams are through and the 3rd team has to play the 3rd last team from the 1st division.

I agree that it could mean a complete new start for Stuttgart but it could be a recipe for disaster as well from which they won't recover anytime soon.

Next year is going to be an interesting one for the Bundesliga. In some ways I feel that if Schalke, Leverkusen or Dortmund don't make the CL it will hurt the performance of the Bundesliga. Wolfsburg still lack experience as do Gladbach. They will also get horrible groups due to the seeding.

Bayern are perfect. For the next couple of years they are still perfect, but they will soon need to replace Schweinsteiger, Lahm, Robben and Ribery. It won't be easy, because those four have been the best in the world in their positions for some time. I guess they only need to replace Robben really, because Muller will move to the right, Gotze will come into the centre and they will need a world class dribbler on the left. Maybe Thiago if he ever gets fit can replace Schweinsteiger, but replacing Lahm looks almost impossible. Leadership is not too bad, because Alaba, Badstuber, Boateng and of course Muller/Neuer are fine.

Schalke are interesting, because they have so much potential. Di Matteo has played 3-5-2 a lot, but when he has a fit team I don't think that's the best formation. First and foremost they need to have a massive sale and clear out the dead wood. Matip, Howedes, Nastacic, Sane, Goretzka, Draxler, Meyer, Huntelaar and Choupo Moting should make up the future team. Sign some full backs and a defensive midfielder. Get rid of the likes of Boateng, Far-fan, Obasi and Uchida. Buy some decent full backs and a defensive midfielder.

A 4-2-3-1

Fahrmann
??---- Howedes(Kirchoff)---- Nastacic(Matip)---- ??
--------???(Hoger)-----Goretzka(Neudstater)
Sane(Sam)-----Meyer(Barnetta)---------Draxler
--------------------Huntelaar(Choupo-Moting)

That's a strong team and only needs three additions, which they can raise by getting rid of the dead wood. A very young team, but one that can really improve in the future. The trouble is keeping the those players especially if they don't make Europe. Draxler and Howedes have been making noises about wanting a move for some time.

Dortmund are just a mess though. Needs complete rebuilding and the only players worth keeping are Hummel, Reus, Bender, Gundogan, but they might not want to stay.If Gundogan does not sign then they should sell him. Klopp needs to think carefully and build a team with great partnerships.

If Hummels stays then to compliment him he needs a defender with lots of pace. Subotic and Sokratis are good enough, but Hummels works better with pace. Should sell one of the two to raise money.
At right back they Pisczek could rediscover his form, but they need a promising right back that can cross the ball.
At left back if they play Reus on the left they need someone that can overlap and cross the ball well. Someone like Rodriguez would be perfect, but of course that's impossible.
If Bender is going to play in midfield then you need someone who is brilliant passer alongside him like say Kroos, but again impossible.
In the middle they need a 10 who is creative.
On the right they need an orthodox winger who can beat a man and put crosses in.
Then they need a complete striker that can hold the ball up.

In the summer Subotic, Weidenfeller, Grosskreutz, Gundogan(if does not sign), Jojic, Kagawa, Mkhitaryan, Immobile and Ramos need all to be sold.
Bring back the likes of Hofmann and sign a new goalkeeper, a left back, a ball playing cental midfielder, a no 10 and an orthodox 7 as well as an old fashioned no 9. I am not sure Klopp has the ruthlessness to do that to the team.

Just waiting for it to be confirmed that City get knocked out next week :( , but I think I'll have to wait until next season to get over to see Köln. I am hoping to squeeze in a trip in May but Köln are away the weekend I can do so I'm looking further north. If the TV fixtures are kind to me, I'm hoping I can get to Bremen, Wolfsburg, and St Pauli.

Does anyone know when to expect the Spieltag 31 fixture times to be confirmed?

Sa 02.05. 15:30
FC Schalke 04 - VfB Stuttgart
VfL Wolfsburg - Hannover 96
FC Augsburg - 1. FC Köln
TSG Hoffenheim - Borussia Dortmund
Werder Bremen - Eintracht Frankfurt
SC Freiburg - SC Paderborn 07

Sa 02.05. 18:30
Bayer 04 Leverkusen - Bayern München

So 03.05. 15:30
1. FSV Mainz 05 - Hamburger SV

So 03.05. 17:30

I know it's the pokkal during the week, but there are plenty of teams not involved....

May, 1st is a traditional riot day in germany, so police has no forces for Bundesliga matches...
