Is there so much cult about any player in the Premier League as there is about Prince Poldi from Cologne?

One of the waggons in the Carneval in Cologne.

(the goat Hennes is the mascot of 1. FC Köln, On the waggon is written:"Poldi, never leave us" and "Geld oder Liebe" means "Love or Money"...

how's Podolski doing now he's back home instead of struggling at Bayern?

on 2001, what was that keeper doing for the Bayern goal? if he'd stayed on his line he would have blocked it, stupid, paid to do it?

Podolski is back at Cologne since the 2009/10 season. The first two seasons were not really that good but this year he did really well until he got himself injured in the winterbreak while playing soccer with friends. He had 15 goals and 5 assists in 18 games - pretty good ratio especially if you do that with a small club without much help.

Just the whole story in very short - there is long ones on youtube.
Why should he have been paid? It is not East Europe and Schober, the goalkeeper of Hamburg at this day even is a boy from Schalke - came from Schalke the year before and is again the second or third goalie at Schalke since 2007 until today. All of the players of Hamburg were between the ball and the goal.

yes, ironically the keeper was a long-time Schalker. The ref Markus Merck, who had given that Bayern free-kick inside the box in the 94th. minute afterwards asked the german FA, that he never must do a Schalke home match for the rest of his career. Somewhen in 2011 Sky had the idea of provoking a little scandal by bringing Merck back to Schalke. He sat in front of the fans and did his job as pundit in a shower of beer, coins and verbal abuse.

Bayern's spectacular meltdown continued today with a 2-0 loss to Leverkusen while Dortmund won meaning they are now 7pts ahead of Bayern. Added to their 1-0 deficit against Basel in the CL (although that can be overturned easily enough at home), Bayern are in a disastrous phase. They looked great earlier this season but the wheels are coming off. Klopp at Dortmund is a fantastic manager, on the way to two successive Bundesliga titles against a wealthier club with more established players.
