Bundesliga Thread - 2023/24

Don't post a lot here anymore as I felt like interest in German football and fan culture dwindled on here, but great to see some activity in the thread. :-)

Chemie Leipzig today with 2000 supporters away to Hansa Rostock in the 4th division, 400 km one way distance.

And people think RB Leipzig is the beating heart of football in Leipzig.

Just saw the highlights of Bayer vs Bayern. This result will be a massive psychological boost. I reckon the league is wrapped up for them bar a major fuck up. What a performance from Bayer.

Bayer have a lot of previous. It is in no way wrapped up.

Look what happened to Dortmund last year.

That was a massive choke, IMO. All they needed to do was to win that last game at home. Anyway, I hope Bayern drops some more points, so it doesn't go to the last fixture this season. If Bayern doesn't win it this year for the first time in 10+ years, I reckon that Kimmich to City could actually happen :).

I know your lad and his mates would be spoiled for choice when it comes to weekend European getaways. Having said that he should check out Unionistas in the city of Salamanca.

Beautiful town and you could say the club has City ties. Check out the archived article about them on the bbc web site….
I worked in Salamanca for a while. Lovely old town, the lady I hooked up with was also lovely, but not as old as the town!
The university was the first in Europe to teach the life of Martin Luther. Gives you some idea of its ancientness.

I remember a few years ago, a Bielefeld supporter predicting that whilst Mesut Ozil was enjoying his honeymoon period at Arsenal, it wouldn't be long before he showed his true colours and the fans would eventually turn on him.

I was thinking about this last night whilst watching Harry Kane and listening to the growing speculation that he might finish the season with a record number of goals and no trophies.

This is why Foden struggles for England and also why Bayern might not win the Bundesliga.

Kane is like a kid in the playground forever chasing the ball and suffocating the space for his teammates. Lots of goals, but a total lack of team discipline.

I see Mainz seem to be going through the Danish phone book and employing anyone called Bo. Seems to have turned a few clubs around but what I've seen to this season he may struggle.

9/2 to win europa, vs 2/1 dippers.
But I took a small interest in Brighton @ 20/1

@Scaring Europe to Death The part about Ozil is wrong though, Arsenal's club hierarchy profoundly shafted Ozil a new one for various reasons I wont go into. Every problem that he faced at that club was due to a falling out between himself and Arsenal's corporate executives. This then reflected as a result on how the footballing side of Arsenal was pressured to drop him.
