Burnley (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

The weren't playing for league survival. They were going down. Was just a matter of when

Our possession was poor. Our finishing was even poorer. And The selection without Rodri's correct understudy clearly was a mistake.
The point is you don't see teams just rolling over even if staying up is virtually impossible, yet that's what many on here expected them to do.

Not just in the media. Everyone talking in the past few days like we'd go and score 4 or 5 here. They're fighting to stay up, it's rare even a bad side will just roll over in those circumstances no matter how poor they are. Never easy against a packed
We should have scored minimun 3 goals against a relegated team.

Thinking it's easier to assume the next team to drop points loses the title rather than both these teams wins everything and it is merely a shootout about who scores most. Fact of the matter is, for all the stick we've given Arsenal, we haven't been very good for long stretches either, and both teams have a massive slip left in them.

That said there's some right sitters tonight that would have calmed the nerves if nothing else.

Rodri can't get back quick enough.

Without sugarcoating, this was not a good performance. O'Riley has to play as a left back. We could've easily been 3-0 up by half time but then their defence completely closed down and we couldn't do anything anymore. Cherki the only one trying, Haaland and Semenyo incredibly clunky. It's nice to finally be on top of the league but we cannot continue playing like this, hopefully Pep changes something after this game.

Has there ever been a front line that is so feckin incapable of actually getting shots off? In all seriousness, and amazingly skillful as Cherki may look, none of the other forwards have a bloody clue what happens next. In short, there's a touch of the Rodney Marsh signing about Cherki, and you seriously have to ask yourself if we would score more goals without him in the team.
Would we fuck. hes one of the reasons we are in the title race at all. Had he been used sooner by Pep we'd be clear at the top.

Infuriating to watch but a win is a win

Not gonna worry about goal difference on a game-by-game basis, no matter how much Sky try to hype it up
It's not a game-by-game issue though, is it? - it's looking at the bigger picture.

Look at our fixtures - we've just let the softest one go by without capitalizing. It's not slagging off the players to say that's it's bloody disappointing.

Arsenal won't feel any more pressure because of this, they'll have been expecting us to win. They'll feel bouyed because it's only 1-0.

Generated loads of chances.

Just horrendous finishing.

One of those days.

But we won so we take it and 1st position and hopefully never let up.

Too slow and our of rate shots to goals is very poor , we need arsenal to drop points as we won't win on goal difference
