pep will give them few days off and ready for southampton
few weeks ago nobody would put us top of league at this point
sky hyping goal differance becuse they need hype their choice has fall off cliffe yes might still win it but just think of all them programes they've already made

Burnley played for the shirt and their manager so respect. I am more than happy to win. Let's give it all now on and off the pitch.

It felt bit like playing away after a hard european game. We would all have taken that result earlier in the season. Yes they missed chances and Burnley had, maybe, three good dangerous breakaways. Get the cup semi final won, then a week off before Everton. We will be fine.

15 years ago i would have been happy with one trip to Wembley now we have been 30 times , go figure.:)

feels like a draw with the goal difference, i don't know. i'll have to think this one through. i definitely see arsenal feeling invigorated by that. this was our best opportunity to put a bit of a buffer, only 1 is not enough.
No they won't, they'll be absolutely gutted.

We went top after being 9 behind 2 weeks ago.

At 1 nil they would have been hoping all game for an equaliser that never came.

Shit. Real missed opportunity and we may rue those chances if it does come down to goal difference.

Especially that O’Reilly one at the end.

At least we won.

Pep’s giving no one a day off. He will be mad.

Great result tho. +3

True, because sadly it was. Look getting the three points was the main thing, but if you're connected to Arsenal you will be breathing a huge sigh of relief we didn't surge ahead in the goal difference stakes. We certainly had the chances but sadly they didn't go in. The fear is Arsenal have to play a now relegated Burnley at home and you can be sure they'll score more than one against them.
It's only your fear. If you're connected to Arsenal you realise you've now just lost your "unassailable" lead after 200+ days and only have 5 matches to get it back, in between two tough CL matches, on the back of defeats to us twice and Bournemouth at home.

They couldn't even beat a Championship side in the FAC in a match in which many expected them to produce a statement win as we'd just ended their hopes of the quad. They've struggled for months and there is now no pressure on Burnley and that's the time the bottom clubs usually tart to turn in a couple of results. Burnley's not the one anybody is expecting them to lose anyway, but you can't see them winning their last 5 on current form.

This is a free hit for us this season, we're rebuilding and nobody expected us to win anything yet here we are, favourites to do the domestic treble again. If you're connected with Arsenal you're a very worried fan right now.

Not a great performance, but perspective is needed here.

We weren't even in a title race 4 weeks ago, now we are top of the league on Goal Difference. Why all the negativity on the Match Day Thread? The fact we are in with a chance of the title is amazing.

They're fighting to stay up, it's rare even a bad side will just roll over in those circumstances no matter how poor they are.
They weren't "fighting to stay up" though, even a win tonight would only have put off the inevitible a week.

They were however playing for pride, against the form team in the league, a huge difference really, they were down weeks ago in reality, and still need 4 more points to avoid their worst ever PL season, the time for "fighting to stay up" were weeks ago, and they failed.

That was a great win. The pundits are either naive or trying to create a narrative - which is why Haaland looked a bit confused by their questions.
This was not a game where we go and beat a shit, open team by loads of goals. This was a team fighting on the very last day to stay up, or at least go down fighting. This was a harder game than if they were safe. This was also a team that did everything they could to prevent us from scoring. We always struggle against teams like this. That early goal helped us because it meant we could keep possession.

Pundits emploring us to go for goals - we see what happens when we do that against teams like this. They wait for us to pour everyone forward and they go for the counter. We nullified that today whilst remaining possession and still having a chance to try to score. What you don't want to do in a title race is get caught up in the hype, go for goal and concede. Better to win 1-0 and get the points.

Great win today. Top of the league.
Well said.
