Burnley (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

City should have scored at least three. What is more worrying is that the opposition still had a real chance to equalise at the end. Of course, the win is important, but a performance like this against a side such as Everton could easily lead to dropping points — or even losing the game.

Oh FFS give it a rest. Half this thread is full of the bottlers that they're are saying Arsenal are. In what match does any opposition not have the chance to score at some point?

A performance like this against a side such as Everton could easily lead to a 3-0 win. There was nothing wrong with it, just a tough match against a side who didn't want to be relegated in front of their own fans.

We could easily play worse and score more, why you clowns think that playing a bottom club fighting for their lives should equal a 5-0 win is totally beyond me because it has never worked that way and never will. I actually think we might have got off lightly, most teams would have put up more of a fight than that, but that would create more space at the back and we wouldn't have to be trying to beat 10 defenders.

Take your tranny (radio) to Wembley on Saturday. They KO 15 minutes after us. The Geordies have been shite but strange shit happens in a title race…
Do tranny radios still exist? I think most people will be glued to the score updates on their mobile phone.

Still can’t forget this is a young, reasonably inexperienced team who have battled so hard to get to this point. It’s never plain sailing with City in any form so well done to the lads for getting it done tonight and let’s move on to the next game. Come on Newcastle
Finally a sensible comment.

Who's to say Arsenal won't, to stop the rot?
Arsenal can't risk playing for a draw and losing more points after losing top spot, so no, that's never going to happen.

Incidentally, Newcastle have won more than Bournmouth.

We could of took a little pressure off tonight.
But saying that if we get to another FA Cup final, I think the lads will start to fly
Get a bloody grip. Could have took a bit of pressure off? WE WON THE MATCH AND WENT TOP.

If beating Arsenal at Wembley, putting 4 past Liverpool in a must win game for both sides (to stay in the cup), 3 past Chelsea away then beating Arsenal again in a match that would have probably put them in an uncatchable position if they had won, then coming through a match against a team that had to win to avoid relegation, and throughout all of that only conceding one "fluke" goal isn't flying then I don't know what is.

The expectation levels of some of you from a team nobody gave a prayer of even catching Arsenal a month ago is fucking absurd.

Reading some of these posts anyone not knowing the score would think we had lost, not just gone top for the first time in over 6 months.

I like your reply. It makes me more positive about this. Thank you.

Great atmosphere and a win in a game that we had to win.
We had enough chances to score five or six but it happens sometimes. We missed Rodri, that's clear, but on we go in a position I never felt we could be in this season. Next, yes, but not this one.
Well done, blues, we are top of the league and in it to win it with a semifinal to come this weekend. It doesn't get much better you know.

Arsenal have Burnley at home we had 28 shots so Arsenal can get there goal difference up in that game if it comes down to goal difference

Whatever standard of football you played at, it was always hard to raise your game against a side you were expecting to beat easily, after playing a big game a few days before. Press not quite as quick, tracking back not so keen and passing not as sharp.
On a side note, I loved the rendition of boys in blue, hope it becomes a regular.

We were obviously a bit tired after Sunday so the main thing is three points.

THERE ARE NO EASY GAMES AT THIS STAGE OF THE SEASON. Even our great 2019 team limped to a 1-0 win at Burnley in the run in (by a matter of centimetres).

Everyone is assuming Arsenal will win every game but they’re a team not set up to attack attack attack. If they do think they have a chance to overtake us on goal difference and go for it then funny things may happen.

Hopefully we’ll be a lot fresher for Everton and we can just keep winning and force Arsenal to be perfect.

So, have I got this right?

Arsenal have gained confidence by losing to City on Sunday. They have also gained confidence by City beating Burnley and going top of the league with 5 games to go.

I hope to fuck they don't lose to Newcastle, otherwise the confidence they'll take into the last 4 games will be through the roof.

Also Arsenal have two tough games against a team who will battle them in the Champions League

The pressure both physical and mental will take its toll on them

And a 9 point lead evaporated to zero in just a few weeks. Don't forget that. Huge boost to the gooners that.
