Burnley (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

The media have a product to sell. They are absolutely gagging for Arsenal to win it due to the 'bottle' narrative they've been selling - they will 100% have stories already written about them winning it for the first time in a generation and then who they have to sign to do it back to back. I can also guarantee that one of the AFTV lot have a City bottle to drink from the first time we drop points.

As Omar from The Wire would say.....all in the game man, all in the game....
They are building the narrative already if Arse win it, they will refer to our over indulgent celebrations on Sunday, if they pip us on GD they will refer to the missed chances last night. And yes the bottle meme will definitely come back to bite us big style. It’s instigator will become infamous and may need to take a self enforced break from social media and even then it’s highly likely the mainstream media will track him down for part 2 the revenge

On paper it was an easy game, playing against one of the worst teams in the PL, and this is were psychology starts to work against any team, the players go out not thinking it's going to be a tough game, the Burnley know they are doomed why not go out with a fight claim a big scalp you see it happen time and time again, the psychological side to the game is often overlooked by pundits and fans alike

The media should be grateful we have come from nowhere to stop the season being an unopposed title procession for the most unwatchable team on the planet. Without us viewing figures would be in the toilet. Imagine if United had relentlessly hunted down & then knocked Le Arse off the top after 100 days.

Yep

City have turned the season into a blockbuster must-watch title run in ? City from nowhere are the winners again in the League Cup beating Arsenal, topping the league vs Arsenal CITY showing it can be done.

Listening to 5 live this morning, they were saying that City had missed an opportunity, and only being top on goals scored, they would need to win all their remaining games. No! they only need to match Arses results. If Arse win all their games then so be it.

Simply, the media don't like giving credit to City for what it is, an unbelievable fight back to the top of the table in April. Let's give credit for the City win last night vs Burnley, fighting to stay up at home and they gave us a game we had to win with fight and hunger. Also only 3 days after the Arsenal game and without Rodri, so there was little time to train and plan for the Burnley game.

Do the general consensus from Arsenal fans across social media is this.....

It's a fair assessment and one that plenty on here have said. It's just about them doing their job and winning their last 5 games. That's all they can do. It's what Pep would be saying to our players. It's just whether Arteta can get that across to his players. They've got the CL to navigate as well

If we had lost are last 4 domestic games and struggling to beat the weakest team left in the champions league I don't think they would be saying we going to win are next 5 on the trot

They will, but they can write just as many stories about Arsenal being bottlers. All Arsenal fans are utterly convinced that the media hate them and are rooting for City.

Positions in the table are fluid though....if Fulham beat Villa at the weekend, then they will be top half when Arsenal play them. If Brentford lose their next 2 games they will be bottom half when we play them, so it might not even turn out like that

The disappointing scoreline for me was after we scored in the first 5 minutes, the Burnley fans were not interested in it and at that point I thought we would get 3/4 easily. Within 15 mins of that I changed my mind and thought a win was all that mattered as we were wide open at the back. A better team would have punished us.

I hope Rodri is fit for Everton.
