Burnley (A) Post-Match Thread

It was good and everyone needed a lift after the weekend.

Sterling takes all the plaudits but looking at it critically he has a poor first touch. Doesn’t strike the ball cleanly. Doesn’t protect the ball leading to possession being turned over cheaply.

There I’ve said it.
What he has though is speed and a very good attitude. He keeps going no matter how many he misses. He constantly makes the run to be there in the scoring position sometimes making up 40-50 metres to be there.

MOTM? Well he should have had a hatrick.

We weren’t tested at all by Burnley, but it was great to have Laporte back. I continue to like the look of Ake.
That’s the best we’ve seen of Torres. There’s hope there that he could develop into our type of player. He was far better than Mahrez.

I liked the look of Palmer. A bit slow in decision making but this is a big step up for him. Didn’t look fazed.

Bernie’s back. Harwood Bellis got a few more minutes and Stefan looks like a decent addition.

All good.

No idea why we started such a strong team tbh, it's a mickey mouse cup and we don't need to be winning it this year.

Ferran looked very good. Anyone bitching about him after the previous scraps he'd played was daft anyway. However, if anyone would like to go after Mahrez here I'll be ready with my like button... But im not doing it coz we won 3-0 and I'm happy.

Tipped off he was playing some time prior to the team being announced. Lots of people who know him were putting bets on for him to score. A very tidy debut and only one small error in the dying minutes. Would love to see Foden, Doyle, Herwood-Bellis and Palmer in the team as regulars in a few years time.
90th minute, caught in possesion and gave it away for the first time in the match. More tellingly he almost won it back.

He reminds me of Mike Bassett
