Burnley (A) Post-Match Thread

Thought it was interesting when ake came on it was in fact Laporte who played on the right side. So good to have Laporte back, solid enough performance but Leeds will be a big test Saturday.

all in all £10 well spent

I thought we went 3 at the back with THB on the right, Laporte central, and Ake left, though it's not always easy to tell when the other team don't venture into your half.

Good win tonight. Great to see Laporte back on the pitch, and Bernardo fit again. Nice to see a Pep continuing give the youngsters a go and a decent debut for Palmer.

Another local lad who must be pinching himself that he gets to train with his heroes

Having Laporte in the side automatically makes the defence play better.

Good team performance. Thought Palmer and Torres were involved a lot and did well.

Dyche was embarrassing with his constant moaning at our players and the ref.

Can anyone tell me why Bernardo was booked please?

They had a counter attack around the 85th minute mark, Bernardo tried to take out their midfielder, but failed and they carried on. The attack fizzled out and we kept the ball for about 5 minutes.

Bizarrely, he didn’t book him when the ball next went out of play. Madeley obviously forgot. Then, about a minute later, Bernardo got fouled and he then remembered he was going to book him for his challenge on the counter attack.

I think it was still a 4, it was just that THB didn’t venture forwards at all as he probably hasn’t played there much.

I read on the bbc match stats that Burnley only commited three fouls to our twelve, just three fckin fouls!!!! and Dyche is calling the ref rubbish. I would really like to see all teams foul stats throughout the season, I would bet that most teams lowest fouls commited stats are versus us. Dont try to tell me that after a 50/50 challenge that the ref isnt thinking about how much the two players involved have cost, and awards free kick accordingly, the medias tentacles reaching the psyche of the officials right there.

As I said very hard to tell if the other team are playing an 8-1-1 formation, there was certainly a period when it looked a 3, with Mahrez and Mendy in what looked like wing back positions on the half way line, Mahrez even ventured into our half briefly at one point.

Burnley had a collapse on being touched policy tonight. The ref fell for it.

There was a tussle between Tarkowski and Sterling near the end where he was basically hugging Sterling and he didn’t get a free kick as he didn’t fall over.

Torres came out of a couple of tackles that were obvious free kicks, but weren’t given as he didn’t fall over.

No idea why we started such a strong team tbh, it's a mickey mouse cup and we don't need to be winning it this year.
Why not?

There are only four trophies that we can win, and the League Cup is one of them.

For 35 years, our victory in 1976 was all we old fuckers had to cling onto, though Dennis Tueart's overhead effort was a bit special.

And if we win it this season, we will equal Littlewoods' record of four in a row and their total number of League Cup successes.

I hate this arrogance among certain City fans that somehow the League Cup is below us, and we should just give up on it. It makes them sound like Klippety.
