Quite. There was a time when it was common for under-performing referees to be assessed and demoted to lower division games for a match or two. It doesn't seem to happen anymore. Thus, it appears to me that PGMOL refs are now untouchable and can more or less do what they want, or more likely what they're told, without any fear of reprisal. Probably the only job in the world where bad decisions and horrendous mistakes don't get questioned by Management. It stinks.

Rodri really really gets how to play in this system now and my oh my how he's shining.

Felt like at the start of this run of games we had to win all of them to really give ourselves a dominate and healthy lead going into the liverpool game, but to do it all without conceding 1 goal has even surpassed my own expectations.

We look good, seriously good. Keep on stacking the results up like this and get aguero fit and back on the pitch and people are going to start getting very nervous about what we could potentially do in all competitions this year.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves, the focus now is liverpool.

EDIT: Oh yeah I almost forgot, this is all while Kev is getting a nice mid season rest too.
 
Thought we managed that game superbly. We saved plenty back in that second half and hopefully that pays on Sunday. Some brilliant performances again from the likes of gundo stones and Dias and happy Jesus and raz got a goal. All in all a perfect night.
Now for our annual flop at anfield :(

This is like one of those urban myths. No referee was ever demoted. Before VAR, the select group of refs would officiate in the PL one week & in the FL the next week. If a ref had had a poor game the press would come out with the "ref has been demoted" BS. Now, in normal times, they will ref 1 week & then be on VAR duties the next.

That's just my take on it over the years EL2. I've just never enjoyed us playing there, no special reason. They try and make it as difficult as they can, play shit football most of the time and generally try to clog us off the park. Hence, in my humble opinion when we go and play them, I never think it's going to be an easy game. No big deal.

OK. Judging by your moniker I'll bow to your apparent inside knowledge.
I still stand by the remainder of my comments in that under the current system these guys are apparently untouchable. How on earth can a multi-billion pound business be so heavily influenced by such small band of incompetent assholes ?

Upper shirt sleeve (think level with armpit) is not handball, and therefore is to be counted for offside. But it's not like the toe end of a boot - the dividing line between OK and not OK just can't be that precise.

If the foul is an attempt to play the ball, it's yellow rather than a red (if it is also when the fouled player is denied an obvious goalscoring opportunity). Last night's madness was two players sent off for trying not to foul a player - if they'd tried to foul the opponent and failed it would only have been yellow.

Anyway, as we didn't win 5-0 against Burnley as usual it must go down as a bit of a let down.

Yeah, what I neglected to add cos I watching the game, was the legal areas accepted are the points of reference for offside as you can't legally score with your hand/ arm.
 
City gently stroll to an easy win, barely exerting themselves.
Then Liverpool flounder to a home defeat to Brighton.

Exactly what the doctor ordered in the lead-up to Sunday.
