Burnley (A) | Post Match Thread

Great start. Burnley fans are bloody odd'uns, and that's coming from somone who had relatives move up to whalley and clitheroe and still regard the burnley lot as England's rednecks.

Genius signing by us though. We need someone who can play centre half, left back, left midfield, centre midfield, left wing, left forward. Gvardiol!

Loved hearing carragher's crying tones it's his first touch la! Yep get used to it spitty boy.

That’s why it was critical to keep Kyle, superb player. Sadly, looked like Laporte is off with the wave to the fans. Thought he played well when he came on. Rico needs more time and not a regular starter for me. Interesting how Pep went across to Jack on the pitch after the game. We look up for it against n this season. Pep and Erling in a mood what’s not to like. Pep looked pleased to have his fans back tonight at the end of the game after Sunday!
Yes agree although hard to ju

That was a harder test than was being made out. Burnley will take scalps at home, add to that the fact they are the fittest team in the league at present compared to us who are the last back and that's a much more impressive result than you'd think.

Very sloppy first half and wasn't keen on us settling at 2, always want a third before we do that but once the third came it was plain sailing. Kovacic grew into it. Really like our willingness to go over the top regularly, they'll come off a lot more often if we keep doing it, it's the easiest way through when teams go man for man which is getting more popular, there's not a player on the planet that can handle haaland 1v1, a total mismatch, hope we refine it and use it more.

Haaland fantastic, rodri exceptional and ake was very assured and stepped up as a leader at the back in the absence of Dias and stones. Rico just doesn't work on the left.

3 points in the bag, want us to hit the ground running and put pressure on arsenal and whoever else early on, we saw last season they couldn't handle pressure. This season they'll be even more pressure on them, bottling the league and then blowing £250 million means theres nowhere to hide, stick it on them early and watch on as they capitulate.

Good performance.

Never a red card in a million years that. I had worse challenges every weekend in Sunday league than that and not a card was shown. Just brushed myself down and got on with it. Game's gone soft. Full of mard arses nowadays.

Maybe so but that's a red all day at professional level

Some Defender playing on a dog shite filled field for the Dog & Bollocks pub might get away with it but with VAR which slows it down and shows a high foot, you're never going to get away with it

The 3-2 build up was found out by Kompany.

Pep adapted with both fullbacks going wide and the wingers coming inside in the second half and we just cruised with possession to the end.

Better result than performance, with no unit within the team firing on all cylinders and a few individuals looking distinctly rusty. Fact that we still won so comfortably should worry the pretenders to the throne.

Yes but in real time it looked like a desperate lunge for the ball by a young lad and I didn’t see any intent there
