Yep, that's exactly what I mean. The Rags think they can go toe to toe with us so will try to attack, Burnley will be going for 0-0 tomorrow and only make an effort at set plays. Watch out for long balls over the top and then diving to get free kicks around 25 yards out.

It's not going to be a comfortable watch.
You've got that to a tee.

However, I'm hoping their safety will see them attempt to play a bit.

They don't know how to play a bit it will be time wasting from first minute and breaking up play all the time. If it is still nil nil after 60 mins see how many of their players get cramp or go down with mystery injuries. They are as bad as any Colin Wanker team but we should be too good for them.

Usually when we've played burnley at turf moor they've not been in the situation they are now. Usually they would be scrapping for their lives aiming to get any point at all in their fight against relegation. Tomorrow is different, there isnt that pressure on them as they are safe. i'm expecting a difficult test, but i can see them playing with slightly more freedom than usual

What like one player less at the back leaving it at 9 instead of 10 ...

Burnley are predictable , set pieces and long ball will be there tactics , they will defend deep with ten behind the ball , absolutely no way will they attempt to take the game to us , Dyche only knows one way to play against the top teams. Expect 80% possession and hopefully an early goal to settle any nerves , the longer they defend and get their blocks and tackles in the more determined they will be , but after the Champs league defeat our players will be fully focused for our last three league games. Unless something stupid happens a sending off or a dodgy penalty then i cant't see our lads slipping up , Pep will have Burnley worked out and will play the right players and tactics. Dyche versus Pep a tactical mis-match.

agreed.
the only problem i see is what we do with our 80% possession, we can waste so much time pissing about sideways and backwards, our attempts vs. possession ratio must be the lowest in the league.
The best way to beat a team parking the bus is to flood the box and smash as many shots as possible low to the corners to score or create chances from spilled saves or to pump head high shots down the middle of the net for headers and deflections, and quicker diagonal through balls, being direct wears a team down.

yes i understand holding the ball and trying to draw a team out but that' not the best play here, our dropped points to "lesser" teams have originated from this.
We need 35 to 45 attempts to batter them, not like the eight attempts on 63% of the ball against united.
so often we give up our advantageous positions to pass back or sideways, allowing everyone to get back so we have to break down the whole team.

I read a good saying the other day:
"Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good" Does that not sum up a lot of our play?
or as Confucius said: "Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without."

not slagging one of the best teams on the planet, but improving should always be the goal, and implementing the above would be easy with the 68% to 80%
possession we will have in this one.
