Laporte playing left back? A very strong team and with Wood and Barnes out for them it should help with set pieces, although Mee is quite good at them.

I can’t see Laporte playing the classing left back role running up and down. That’s not his thing. I think he’ll be defending as a left back but when we attack, Laporte takes the left CB-role in a back three with Cancelo tucking inside in midfield causing overload in the final third. Pep is smart :)
He knows Burnley will defend with 10 men.

Yep.
At least five of their best players are out - Woods,Barnes (strikers),Brady,Brownhills (mids) and Taylor (defender).
No excuses really.

Knowing that Wood and Barnes were out, I actually think Zinchenko was the better choice at left back as neither Vydra nor Rodriguez are going to bully Zinchenko at the back post. Plus, his passing in the build up phase is better than Laporte’s. If Laporte is there to counter Burnley’s giants, that’s weird as they are not there! But it’s still a very nice team regardless and Zinchenko is always there on the bench if we are struggling with the build up in any way. Come on City!

We're not blessed with an abundance of out and out forwards. There is Delap. But I'm not sure Pep would trust him with that iffy temperament. Not least at Turf Moor, where they do "like a tackle".
