Burnley - Post Match Thread

Bought two speedy wingers who are void of any idea what to do with the ball. Thought Sterling was poor, infact he's done nothing really to change my mind that he's just an expensive version of Aaron lennon. Poor decision making and unable to cross a ball or take a decent dead ball kick.
Wow

Bang on, Wow WTF?
You're the one encouraging people to boo Sterling no?

I would love to see whoever puts these rating up actually play football.
Another really tough away game against 12 men, 1-0 down & we go on to win it. Yes!

It so funny as well because Burnley could have got a penalty according to the commentators.
This is how it works in the anti-City minds of BT (Trevor Francis is a right hater).

Burnley play the ball in & have 3 players in a line all off side, there's no flag play goes on then they get probably a good call for a pen.

Then Howard Web who say's yes they were off side but it wasn't called, so the penalty was a penalty. Completely ignoring the mistake by the linesman & ref for the offside.

The commentator then confirms it should have been a penalty. No reference to the 3 guys offside prior. So missing the Offside then was O.K. but it was a definite pen.

What are we up against as a club when even the refereeing calls are being twisted into nonsense.

I was also unhappy with the barging & pushing of City plays that went unpunished while City were pulled up for the same on almost ever occasion.

Today the cheat didn't prosper.

Well done lads another great 3 points on the road, 6 out of 7 can't be bad.

Who was the Scottish Jerk presenting the BT coverage today? The coffee table had more charisma.

This was always destined to be a tough game and we were not helped by them getting what in truth was a freak early goal from a guy who hasn't scored in EPL for seven years.

I'm very happy to have won that. My only real complaints are that, despite the fact they were bound to cause us a few problems, we didn't show enough composure at times and gave the ball and fouls away too cheaply; plus, we were, once more, not clinical enough in the final third.

No complaints with Pep's team selection. Fernando had a really good game. Yaya was better on the ball than anyone else. Kolarov defended well.

I wish all the moaners would calm down, look at the league table and have a pint and enjoy, knowing we can play a strong fresh team against chekski. Good use of resource by pep :-)

Good points, although Otamendi did push that player which looked like a pen in the first half, considring the bias against us I'm surprised they didnt get both tbh.

Not the best display, but got the points. Can watch MOTD tonight and now just hoping
at least 1 of my footie bets come in for a superb weekend.

Dogshit performance but we won. Got to be pleased with that.
We have big problems defending against any team that presses us high up the pitch.
Also having wingers who are clearly under instruction not to run at the opposition defence is terribly frustrating.

I suspect i'm in a minority of one but I thought that was performance of the season. It was never going to be a Barcelona-style football-fest for the simple reason that Burnley set out to prevent that happening. And they did that very well as they have against most teams at home whilst ensuring that they played to our weakest strength (and I use the oxymoron deliberately) in the air.

Pep picked the ideal team for the job and it worked perfectly so we go home with 3 points and rested players.

I cannot believe the stick Kolarov and Otamendi are getting after withstanding an aerial onslaught all game. Indeed, Kolarov has been excellent for weeks now although some people refuse to see it. My man of the match today.

If we sign a centre back, we should sign a proper one who can actually dominate rather than struggle to keep up.

Otherwise we might as well just stick with the ones we have.

We needed somene 4 inches taller 2 stone heavier & 2 yards quicker than Otamendi when we signed him. We still haven't found that player.

We do need a big imposing CB, with ball skills, for use in the Premier League and cannot rely on Vinnie being that man. Finding someone in January won't be easy.
