Witness Lampard. He was excellent at Derby, but couldn't hack it at Everton and Chelsea. I find it hard to believe that they've gone back to him to "mind the house"
I agree.
I think Vinnie is a probably a level (or more) up on Frank intellectually and that could be the difference. It's early days for both managers though. I'm not going to attempt to predict who will have the more successful managerial career, it depends on so many things.
The most I've watched of Burnley this season was at the Etihad, where they really impressed until we took the lead.
Burnley's results tell their own story, as does the fact they did not expect to get promotion this season.
I heard from a very good source Vinnie wasn't too popular with the Burnley players early in the season, because he was working them so hard - I guess they are happier with him now.
Just listening to some of the post match stuff yesterday, I switched on for the celebrations, and watching Vinnie and hearing him interviewed, you get the feeling he is headed for bigger things. I did hear recently that his a Bellamy's management style is more SAF than Pep but that could well be a reflection of the current set-up he is managing.
Will be be the right guy to manage City? I hope we don't need to find out for several years but the day will come when Pep steps down and I am not going to be alone in hoping that Vinnie will be ready, willing and able to takeover. That might be fairytale thinking but former players have managed other clubs to major trophies - we have one of them in charge right now.
