Burnley Vs City Post Match Thread

What's sad is Chelsea haven't even been properly challenged for the title. They haven't had to "win" anything it's been literally handed to them by ourselves. Really disappointing.

Where we're at now has been coming for a long time. We have an ageing team that lack the legs and now apparently the desire to consistently win matches. We should have been adding at least one world class player a year to strengthen the team and gradually replace the older players. Pellegrini hasn't signed one world class player in two years (with the possible exception of Negredo who's no longer with us). In that time Chelsea have signed Hazard, Fabregas and Costa, and Arsenal have signed Osil and Sanchez. We've signed Mangala and Bony. 'Nuff said.
At the start of this season Demichelis was 34, Sagna 32, Yaya 31, Zabaleta 30, Silva, Navas, Milner, Clichy, Fernandinho, and Kolarov were all 29, Kompany and Dzeko 28. That's just about a full team that will need to be replaced over the next couple of years. The lack of a proper transfer policy has cost us dear and that's at the root of our current problems. And with the ridiculously misnamed "fair play" rules we're going to struggle to splash out the cash that's needed to shore up our geriatric team.
All the great teams mix bought players with home grown talent, when was the last time a youth team player had a consistent run in the first team?
We've got problems, and they run a whole lot deeper than the current manager deciding when to make substitutions.

We will be lucky to stay in the top 4 at this rate.
We will never hear the end of this if the rags finish above us.

I've got a bad feeling about the rag game.after today I feel like we have gone back years.you can see that this term have packed in.yaya goodbye and take the other could,nt give a shit with you.you don't care about this club but we do

Hard to disagree with most of that. We have actually splashed a lot of cash, but we still rely upon the big names mentioned above.

I wouldn't fancy being in Txiki's shoes because he has a helluva problem on his hands.

Whilst we all have an element of varying levels of accountability - management, fans, back-office support functions et al - primary responsibility for this latest example of individual derogation of duty sits with the playing staff.

I hear talk of fans and their new-found sense of entitlement. Well I have a sense of entitlement, the basis of which is that when a player goes on to the pitch he gives everything and to the extent that when he comes off it he does so with nothing left to give. Nothing.

I seriously struggle to recall seeing a single one of our so-called superstar players look like they've done that in months.

Let's hope that if nothing else, the Burnley game was our nadir - the defining point from which the root cause of our problems was finally exposed for all to see and dealt with accordingly by senior Club management.

He should be relishing his role this summer , in all likelihood a new manager ( if not sooner ) to bring across , a new captain to instill the leadership we clearly lack given our current leadership or lack of it on the pitch on match days and some 4 to 5 quality players to bring in that will be fitter , meaner , better and hungry for success to replace those that have no future with us.

A lot of people would relish the job he has to do now and if he doesn't then you have to question why he is still with us.

What if Txiki just isn't the right man as DoF? Why would you believe he will get it right in the next window after failing in the previous three ?
