Burton Albion (a) Post Match Thread

Though I personally think the best bit on the ball from either was one bit where Sandler turned past one guy and confidently strode into midfield. Liked them both though too.

Yes, I agree, that was the best bit of individual skill (but then he got carried away & did a Phil Jones later).

But imo, Garcia's passing is well above the level of 'clever defender' such as Stones, Laporte & maybe Sandler & instead more like a quality midfielder, which is where I recon he'll end up, unless he finds an extra 2 feet of jumping ability from somewhere.

Enjoyed the game, new ground ticked off the list. Smoke bombs and flares were brilliant in the away end.

Felt very much like one of those wank preseason games in America or somewhere where 500 players you never see again all get a game before going off on loan to the Icelandic 3rd division.

Another final though guys. Keep on keeping on.

so what's the outlook

Foden is hovering around matchday 18 man squad
Muric is making the bench
Garcia is probably the most assured looking of the rest of the kids
rest of them look to raw

Maffeo and Diaz have been sold (along with Sancho)

I thought Povedo and all the other youngsters did well considering the conditions. I don’t suppose they have played on a pitch in that condition for a while.
Delph literally looked like Bambi on ice.
No reported injuries???
All the usual suspects got minutes under their belts which is a plus. Mendy will be back to delivering his usual bullet crosses I’m sure.
There should be no reason why we cannot retain this trophy now.

How many debuts has pep given to academy players after another 2 last night? Given the bad press we get about youth I imagine it will be pretty high. Wonder how it compares to other top 6 teams also.

Google shows that Foden has had more first team appearences at his age than Beckham, Scholes, and Gary Neville combined at the same age. Makes the "Class of 92" narrative look a bit suspect. I haven't got time to check but wouldn't be surprised if we have given more debuts this year than any other team in the top 6. But of course City never play kids do they?
