I have no problem with the principle of this, and those who have posted negatively are clearly never going to be in need of anyone else's services, or help, or indeed, a job one day....so feck orf!!
Other forums I go on have a 'jobs for the girls and boys' and 'yellow pages' type boards, where fellow members can exchange services and indeed, offer work out, however short term or small a job, so i.e. if someone wanted a reliable friendly electrician, they could be sure that it was someone from that community and of course, word of mouth is everything.
As is negative feedback, so in that respect, doing a good job for your fellow board member is also imperative. All part of good business.
Personally, I'm in commercial property finance. Which goes some way to explaining why I can spend a few hours a day on here....ahem!! Of course right now the banking industry is shagged, and should I get made redunant I will be offering my knowledge and services elsewhere, and not looking to stay in the same job, although, there are potentially other openings in the industry I am sure.
Should similar minded people post on here, there is absolutely nothing to lose in doing a bit of 'networking'. I also absolutely detest these 'networking' and 'breakfast' events. I refuse to go to them, as it's usually a load of wankers in suits asking "and what do you do..."
"Oh I'm an assistant manager for xxxx bank"
to which they think: "oh...female...she's just a typist/cleaner"....
