Buying a new TV

Looking to buy a new TV and I'm not much of a techie.

LED, 4K, HD, UHD, SmartTV. LG, Samsung, Sony. No idea!

Our budget is £1000 - £1200. Can anyone who knows what they're talking about offer any advice?

Are LG a decent make?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, 48 - 50 inch.

For someone who sounds like they're not really into tvs why are you spending so much?

If having the latest tech built in isn't your thing why not for for an older model at half the price? Use the savings to buy a home cinema set up and get surround sound going on?

Don't bother with 3D or smart TVs waste of money, so put the money into a full HD 1080p TV. You will not get a 4K for less than £2.5k anyway.

There you go. Nowt wrong with LG. they have so many pic settings it would be impossible to not get the picture you want. Obviously the sound is shit but it is on all slim tv's

Still a bag of shite though. Your advice was spot on apart from that IMO

Panasonic Plasma is the way to go if you can still get one.

I've got the 65 inch VT60 model über happy with it, so much so my stepdad has decided to get the same one.

Agreed. I have the 60", great tv. I tried to buy one that wasn't a smart tv but they stopped making those just before I bought mine.
