Buying an ex cop car

I don't agree that ex-police cars have been thrashed. Yes, they might put their foot down a bit when answering a call, but they don't drive around crashing through boxes and pulling handbrake turns like Starsky and Hutch. They are generally well maintained. I know a few people who have had ex-squad cars and none have had a problem.

Hmm well this is one of the cars I've been looking at, what do you think ?

Bought an ex forensics van of the plod,it was clean, well fitted out and maintained. serviced by themselves every 10k. The garage I bought it off used to buy all their police dog vans, all caged up, lighting, vented etc etc and flog them down south to proffesional dog walkers. Go for it.

Well, obviously not a police car that has been used for emergency calls and the like. As it has high mileage I'm guessing it's a GP (general purpose) vehicle used for enquiries and general pottering around etc. By the mileage I assume it's been used going city to city and around a large force area. It will have been serviced regularly and properly. Inside looks good for the mileage.

I thought high mileage was normal on cop cars as all of the ones i'm looking at have very high mileage.

Depends on use and size of force area if it was a GP/CID vehicle. 30k pa on that one makes me guess it's use was in a large force.

Be careful of the interior if it has had a lot of kit in it there can be holes and like in the dash and so on....Stoodley's sometimes have a few ex police vehicles in there auctions
