I bought a couple of ex traffic police cars years ago, Cavalier turbo's. High mileage as you would expect but mechanically sound. Don't expect built in sound systems or any extras though as everything is ripped out to accommodate the police spec leaving holes everywhere.

Expect to be pulled over by the police a lot though as they recognise the registration plates and for some reason believe the car is wanted or been involved in crime. It's only when you explain to them it was an ex GMP car they click on and realise why they knew the registration plate.

I bought mine from a bloke in Hyde all he dealt with was ex police motors I don't know if he is still about.

Well, obviously not a police car used for emergency calls and the like. I'd guess it was a GP (general purpose) vehicle. Used for enquiries/statement taking etc. Looking at the high mileage possibly gone city to city on the motorway and around a large force area. Inside looks good considering the mileage. It will have been serviced regularly and properly.

I thought high mileage was normal on cop cars as all of the ones i'm looking at have very high mileage.

Depends on use and size of force area if it was a GP/CID vehicle. 30k pa on that one makes me guess it's use was in a large force.

I think its originally from the police in Leeds but I'm not certain.

Recently I've been looking at replacing my old banger with an ex cop car. Pacifically a Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi Studio 5dr [DPF] Diesel Estate. Now I've been looking at ex cop cars as i can get something that's 4 or 5 year old for only 3k to 4k. I'm guessing as its an ex cop car they're not going to be death traps and should be reasonably well maintained.

So i was wondering has anyone on here ever bought an ex cop car before. Did it turn out alright or are they a bunch of Lemons that are best avoided ?

You using Ocean Finance to fund the purchase?

I don't do finance I'll be using some of my savings.
