BWSL City vs Aston Villa 21/01 Match Thread

That performance wasn't good enough to win a football match. let alone a title or a trophy! Taylor suggested we didn't have the sparkle we've shown in previous games. Isn't he supposed to ramp up all that stuff? Well, the last game was a last gasp 1-0 against a poorly placed side in the 90th minute. It's his job to have the team buzzing. The only team buzzing today were Villa - better control, rarely passing the ball to the opposition which we were doing with alarming regularlity, a constant 90min press, and passing the ball about with a fair amount of zip. I thought at one point that one of our back four was taking so long over an obvious pass that I thought that if I went for another Bovril I could be back before the ball had moved. We had some chances that you have to put away in those games. One of those games like the Spurs game on Thursday - whenever Villa had the ball I thought they were gonna do us, whenever we had the ball I thought Villa would do us!

Very stodgy second half. I think this season is gonna fizzle out with barely a whimper.

Mind, the cause isn't helped when the ref and lino don't know the difference between the two. Both of 'em awarded corners when it was bloody obvious two goal kicks, and at one point I suggested to my neighbour that the lino below us hadn't a fuckin' clue who was last to touch the ball over the touchline - needless to say, Villa got the throw-in.

Such a pity to see what has happened to the women's team. We haven't just stagnated but regressed. Everyone else seems to have improved and are pushing forward. We certainly haven't. I really do wonder what the management structure in the women's game seea in Taylor.

More to the point is do they care about the team/ situation ?

So frustrating that a club as progressive as City is allowing this situation to continue.

That's true, I must admit I don't feel as though they do actually care. They seem quite content to just have a women's team that just exists. If they are talking about extending Taylor's contract I don't see how anyone can think any other way.

I wasn't aware that there was talk of his contract being extended. If true then the club clearly does not care about the team.

A very sad state of affairs for a club like ours imo.

I can only see our best players wanting out under that outcome. Very bad state of affairs if true.

Think it was on City Xtra a few days ago.
