Bye bye Jaguar

The e type convertable is a beautiful design. Enzo Ferrari said it was the best looking car ever made, and he knew a thing or two about cars.
Also the 'morse' saloon, called the mk2 I believe, another great design.
I've never driven either though, sadly.
Those cars had character, as with most others of that era....I can't believe modern cars will be held in such esteem in 50 years....God I'm old.

Character and soul. Designed with a passion.
You're quite right, modern cars are now a throwaway consumer product, which is such a shame.
Probably the last future collectable cars were made in the 80's, exotic stuff apart.
I'm glad I'm of an age where I can appreciate older cars and bikes.

Yep but not much chance of meeting modern safety standards. That’s what killed pop up headlights and many of the more interesting car designs. All rather sad for anyone who values form as much as function.

There's a firm in Wales making "new" mk1 and mk2 escorts. They are hand built to order. They probably get away with a certain amount of red tape due to low volume, but I applaud them, even though you need deep pockets if you want one.
Nice to see though.

It’s subjective of course but I disagree, I think Jaguar have more identity and panache than most other brands put together.

The F-type and XF were and still are very handsome cars and a good alternative to bland offerings from the likes of the VAG group and BMW these days.

Not a fan of their SUVs but I have a bee in my bonnet about stupid crossovers in general.
I have a 3.0 XF and agree they are nice cars but I somewhat regret not going for an XC 90 now, with all the miles I do the current ecars are a waste of time until you can do 400 miles without a long break and significant planning

The last thing which made EML come on was a faulty Knock sensor, in for half a day, invoice came to £592! Unreal

But light not been back on since for over 4 weeks, which is a record.

I will stick with my BMW

Wow that’s like a 50 quid part that shouldn’t be a massive job to fit.

Someone’s mugged you right off. Main dealer I take it?

Totally agree with Enzo Cru, but I've driven a couple of E types and believe me they're not fun to drive due to that insanely long bonnet.

The new Tesla Y will do 500+ miles.
Next two years, most midrange EV's will see that with the best doing 700+ miles.
It's just a transition. EV's are starting to better petrol in almost all metrics. Even high mileage users won't be able to justify petrol/diesel after next year. Modern ICE cars are just too complex. Too expensive to fix.

As somebody who has seen the worst of internal combustions problems, i'm not sure why people are clinging on so tightly. My life has been an endless round of injectors, EGR's, DPF's, cambelts or chains,O2/multi sensors, auto gearbox issues. The list of common faults are endless. And i drive mostly new cars. (and maintain them with OCD standards)

We charge mainly from home overnight, so never need to go to a charge station. Paying around £5 to fully charge is nice. To have to wait 15-20 mins to charge from 10% to 80% if not at home is almost a pleasure compared to the worry about the above. The charge network is a bit hit and miss, but is getting better. As i said, it's just a transition people will get used to.

Yes I can imagine that.
Not the most practical car, but things of beauty are rarely practical.
I'd love to drive one, but they do say never meet your heros.
