Bye bye Jaguar

The new Tesla Y will do 500+ miles.
Next two years, most midrange EV's will see that with the best doing 700+ miles.
It's just a transition. EV's are starting to better petrol in almost all metrics. Even high mileage users won't be able to justify petrol/diesel after next year. Modern ICE cars are just too complex. Too expensive to fix.

As somebody who has seen the worst of internal combustions problems, i'm not sure why people are clinging on so tightly. My life has been an endless round of injectors, EGR's, DPF's, cambelts or chains,O2/multi sensors, auto gearbox issues. The list of common faults are endless. And i drive mostly new cars. (and maintain them with OCD standards)

We charge mainly from home overnight, so never need to go to a charge station. Paying around £5 to fully charge is nice. To have to wait 15-20 mins to charge from 10% to 80% if not at home is almost a pleasure compared to the worry about the above. The charge network is a bit hit and miss, but is getting better. As i said, it's just a transition people will get used to.
How much will that tesla be mate?

Totally agree with Enzo Cru, but I've driven a couple of E types and believe me they're not fun to drive due to that insanely long bonnet.
I've driven 2 e-types and found them a fun car to drive. Are you a midget? Need a cushion to see over the wheel?

My XK8 hasn't put a foot wrong in the 6 years I've had it. Nor did the one before. Maintained properly, looked after rather than thrashed, they will last a lifetime. Comfy, great motorway cruiser, good on the back roads.

Had a couple of land rovers over the years. Both very reliable.

I see the attraction of modern cars, better fuel economy, more gadgets etc etc but I prefer older ones. You can get your hands dirty for one.

They start around £44k. (RRP £44,990 - £59,990)
However, Tesla are reducing the price with each generation.
This isn't going to help stop the secondhand prices falling. Last time they reduced so much, a new one was priced the same as a two year old model.

I got to borrow Eagles E-type "world show" car the other year. Took it over the cat and fiddle for a light blast.
Even thought this car was concourse, it was the back end i had more trouble with. Corning or braking in anything but a straight line was a nightmare. The chassis squirms and constantly moves around even at commuting speeds. I was shaking like a leaf afterwards. (would have been some insurance claim had i bent it!)
It really shows how far modern cars have come.
Great experience and sounded wonderful though!
