Caballero signs

I've never seen him play so have no opinion on how good he is, so this isn't a slight, but a genuine question. Why is he not in Argentina's world cup squad?

No idea. Seems an unusual one, given their number 1 Romero is a backup keeper at Monaco, and their 2 replacement options are both in their 30's, barely capped (Augustin Orion is 32, capped just 3 times, and players for Boca Juniors, Mariano Andujar is 30, capped 10 times and players for Catania in Italy) and hardly play for giants of world football.

That's what I was thinking, I thought there might be a non-football related reason.

Fantastic and fantastic keeper! I'm amazed how well they have done with signings this season so far.
Willfredo Caballero will rise the team's level and it will give to Joe a fckng good reason to play the best season of his life. I'm absolute sure that it is a fantastic choice by the club.

Hart was at his very best when we had a true replacement waiting on the bench in the form of Shay Given. Pellegrini knows Caballero and given what he's done for us last season I trust his judgement. Hopefully we will see Hart back on top of his game. If not we've got a solid number 2 ready and able to step up.

There's claims that Messi doesn't like him and has too much influence on the squad. Not that I have a scooby mind.

It's an odd decision imo. It's a fair chunk of cash in a season when we're limited on what we can spend and it's another foreign player when we're already overstocked. MP and Txixi have earnt trust but I'd be sad to see Hart displaced.

He should only be displaced if he has bad patches akin to those he has had previously - perhaps genuine competition that could be a genuine contender for first choice will keep his focus. If not - well we cannot afford to carry anyone.

I am a big fan of Joe and think that this will help - but it is up to him really - he has not performed as a top keeper for a while

i have no doubt he would not have signed if not given some sort of guarantee's of decent playing time????

he is to good just to sit on the bench i know that much....

I think it's a top signing by the club and it will provide top competition for Joe, brilliant fee at £6m as well considering Barca were apparently quoted £20m.

Txiki strikes again
