Caicedo

Yet again the curse of the 'City Whingers' strikes again. The lad scores a very important match-turning goal for us so he's sh*t!? Robinho (who I like btw) berely shows up for most of the away games this season, is barren in front of goal for the whole winter, yet is somehow beyond reproach and the same could also be said of SWP who in my humble opinion (and I also like) has flattered to decieve for much of the campaign.

In truth none of our 'lone strikers' have been particularly brilliant this season, parhaps because its a role that requires experiance and knowledge quite apart from a good basic goal-scorers instinct and its no coincidence that all of our forwards in that position this year are all very young, including big Phil. Whatever you think of him or the other players, the fact is our squad is small in terms of quality and we will not be able to sign a dozen top-notch players in the summer nor would that be desirable from the stand[point of sensible team-building and bonding.

Phill is worth a punt for a couple of years to come yet, he may benifit from a loan out to a decent Championship outfit (rather than a struggling Prem side) and we'll see what comes back. But please guys, lay off the lad, this apparent need to have a 'target' to abuse and run-down says far more about you than it does about the player - whoever it is - and serves nobody.

he is not a target for abuse though, the minute he takes to the pitch i want him to score and play a blinder - the fact that i don't rate the lad is no different to me not rating Vass or Etuhu etc.

Robbie is uncomparable as he is a world class talent that will prosper with where we are heading and as such i will allow him a dip in form.

Bar his goal i would struggle to name anything else he did in the 60 odd minutes he was on the pitch - personally, and i know we all have our own opinions, i would have started Boj yesterday. Boj had played 90 mins for the reserves last week, scored 2 and at home against B'burn i thought it was the ideal time to give him a start. Even whilst Boj is regaining fitness he wouldn't struggle to outshine Phil, who can't sprint anyway, and considering Hughes felt he was fit enough to start 3 weeks ago against Fulham why not yesterday?

Fil is playing well at the moment-as are the rest of the team.
Sometimes he looks clumsy, the ball bounces off him rather than sticking to him....
But he seems to be developing a "knack" of being in the right place at the right time...yesterday he reminded me of a certain Mr.Goater at times.......

I think he has the attributes to be a top player for City, given time.

I actually think he may become a decent player. Will he play as many games next season? Probably not. But he is just a kid and is putting more effort in than Sturridge and getting his rewards. Let him learn the ropes a bit maybe on loan to a Fulham/Blackburn/Stoke kid of team and he could turn out to be good enough.

This thread turned laughable when someone implied Big Phil is better than Tevez????

Phil is a top bloke and i would love to see him improve, but the reality is, he is nowhere near a top4 stricker (not even a bench option), and thats the only thing next seasons City manager should be concentrating on come season end.

Big Phil is not Big 4. I wish him all the best wherever he ends up.

Totally agree with you mate, he's simply not good enough if we're going to challenge the top 4 sides and will proberly end up at Wigan or Blackburn, which is about his level in all honesty.

Yep, agreed, and to be fair he would probably do ok there.

I dont rate Caicedo either he is a nightmare. I dont think he understands the off side rule as he is always caught off side. Yes he is young and has scored some goals and is something different but we have got better options and will bring in a new forward in the summer so I think he may well be sold. I would rather have Sturridge in ahead of him and even Evans as they add more than Caicedo does to the team.
