Caicedo

He has a big future, we have blundered badly here... it wasn't a lucky season, he worked hard to lose weight so is faster now and more clinical in front of goal. Whenever he got the ball against Brazil there was a buzz of anticipation that comes with a good striker and he again showed why someone's position in our hierachy needs reviewing as one misjudgment was the difference in about 8 million pounds. Who puts an 800k fixed fee on any decent player now? Even when he was half of what he is now for us he had a fair strike rate (5 goals in 17 league games - Dzeko has 2 in 15 to compare first seasons in England) in his first season in the toughest league in the world.

it would have been nice of big phil to reject the move to levante so that we could be the ones to sell him on for 10m ( nice little bonus going in phils back pocket)

wishful thinking i know

I will assume he is still here until the official site says he isn't.
So, therefore, I think he is still here and hope that continues to be the case. Also, sadly, I think Caicedo might choose being a leading, influential player somewhere else over being a squad player here, he strikes me as being that type of guy, someone who just wants to play.

Agreed. The curse of the EPL I'm afraid. Cos he is a big lad we just seemed to pepper him with the long ball. I suspect if we bought him now with the current regime it would be different. Live and learn.

Of course we will - but that isn't the point at all.

he'd have never have got near our first 11 now, were at a far higher level than when he was here,it remains to see if it was a 'lucky season' or not,i wouldn't look too far into them goals against Brazil either, the goalkeeping was a joke

He's 5 times better than Jo who got about 25 appearances last season, so he'd have gotten plenty of chances as our fourth striker (and remember Mancini completely lost faith in Jo halfway through or he might have had more appearances).

But again, my point isn't what we're losing (a good player who could have made it with us but is leaving) but the horrible decision making of someone upstairs who sanctioned the 800k fixed fee on him when even before his previous season he was worth much more than that.

I have to say in the season just gone I think Caicedo would have had an opportunity. I don't think many at the start of the season would have thought Jo would have been favoured over Ade by RM. I do think a loan deal was good for him but £800k peanuts really.
Another who might have got a chance last season had he not left for more money and a 'better chance to start games' in the Prem is Danny Sturridge. He would have had far more chances for City than he has got at Chelsea since his move.
