Calling all Labourites, why do you Labour

Because i am not right wing ,i am between lib dems and labour on most things , aside for being tough on crime , handcuffing women in labour to a trolley is why i despise the tories and what they stand for

Extremely poor leadership choices (forced by the unions I believe) have always stopped me voting Labour... if they’d chosen the other Milliband that time then who knows, I might have given them a chance.

I don’t believe that all the recent Labour offers of an easy ride (free stuff) reward hard work and dedication and whilst I agree that we need to support the vulnerable in society I do believe that there would be many cheats who would prosper under a Labour government i.e. too many would CHOOSE to sit on their arses instead of going out and earning a living..

Yeah! Socialism for the rich, capitalism for the poor.

For me it's mostly because tories are shits - the worst of people are right wing and that is evident in Trumps Republicans and the Purple Tories that were UKIP a few years ago.

That said i accept Labour are far from perfect - I voted Lib Dem once. An anti Corbyn protest vote.

Above all else I want competence from a political party. I'm center left and dont care much for ideology. I'd like to see labour / Lib Dem / Greens aligned into a single progressive party.

Come on you Labourites, explain why you Labour.

Give us a glimpse into your world of sanity and common sense. Tell us your hero's and why your worship them? Who inspires you and why?

What is your favourite piece of Labour legislation?.

Explain your beliefs and where you got them from?

Nobodies bats need to leave their belfry's on this thread, be honest and enlighten us.

Me dad was skint so he left me nowt.

At best its because I fundamentally believe that socialism is what separates us from animals and the law of the Jungle. Sadly voting labour is too often a protest vote or a 'least worst' choice nowadays.

Depends on the Labour.

Centre-Left, sure. Anything more severe or too Nanny-stateish, nah. My view on Government is, run the services, invest in jobs, leave the people alone. I want my MP's to govern, not 'rule', so when they obsess or use language like 'getting in power' I turn off.

So i'd consider myself a social democratic/libertarian Labour voter who likes the idea of a Labour Government, but current reality of the state of the party isn't too appealing.

First thing Labour ALWAYS do is protect their vote and attack the Lib Dems, every election. With Scotland seemingly lost, a coalition is their only route back into government but despite being in opposition to 3 pretty dreadful PMs, they still haven't worked it out.

Rather than that last point, I’d rather they all support proportional representation than align into a single party. It’s the system that needs changing, the last five years have shown that broad churches really aren’t as broad as they think...
