Those aren’t ideals specific to the Labour Party
probably not, however out of the three main parties in the uk, they are the one most likely to move in that direction
Those aren’t ideals specific to the Labour Party
I am not, for exactly the same reasons.I am a labour voter because I believe in social security, free education for all, free healthcare for all and that society needs to protect the vulnerable.
Thats the braod brush answer. happy to answer any specifics
probably not, however out of the three main parties in the uk, they are the one most likely to move in that direction
Move in that direction? We are already there have been for a very long time.
really?
education....we spend 5K per pupil on secondary education compared to the 5K per pupil we spent on secondary education in 2010.
education....9K per year university fees
education....early years funding reduced by 20% compared to 2010
protection of the vulnerable....the changes in the benefits system for the disabled, which was designed to reduce the amount of funding to the vulnerable. Single example from many, the amount of money celiacs recieve for gluten free food has been halved in the last 10 years. Celiacs suffer brain damage if they are exposed to gluten for an extended period and they obviously need to eat less now than they did 10 years ago.
social security....the rules for claiming unemployment benefits have been changed so that claiming the benefit is not always worth it. example when middle daughter was made redundant 4 years ago she had to attend a mandatory job club for 8 weeks. the local job club closed because of government cuts and the closest one was two buses or a train ride away because she doesnt drive. Thats 90 minutes (train) or 2 hours (bus) which cost more than she received in benefits.
healthcare....underfunded, just look at the junior doctors industrial action prior to the pandemic.
You need to read what you posted, you are arguing for more resources/money but the things you mentioned already exist. Can’t believe you didn’t grasp that from my first reply. It was pretty straightforward.
You could make an argument that all of those exist now.fair enough
i should have said I am a labour voter because I believe in social security, free education for all, free healthcare for all and that society needs to protect the vulnerable.
From the evidence Labour is the party least likely to degrade these resources.
I thought the second sentence was implied but obviously not. Happy to clarify it for you.
You could make an argument that all of those exist now.
You could also make an argument that there’s no such thing as those things as free, someone has to pay for them and it’s the taxpayer.
again i thought it was implied that all those exist and its the funding of them that is the issue
equally i thought it was obvious and implied that i was referring to them being free at the point of use and paid for by taxes
Ok. How much more should we spend on these things? And who should pay?
