Callum Doyle

If you piss loan clubs off, it suddenly becomes a lot harder to find decent loans for your players.

This. Norwich will have completed their summer transfer window knowing they had a good player in that position (expectedly) for the season.

If we recall him (even if the agreement permits it) then it's possibly the difference between them getting promoted and not.

At a massive stretch, if they get promoted and have done right by them, they'll side with us on some voting matters in the PL.

All of this might be irrelevant and worth doing if we'd end up playing Doyle week in week out, but chances are he'd get 10 minutes as sub in a lot of matches plus some starts in dead CL games.

Leeds played @Norwich Tuesday, ended 1-1. Nifty 20 yo Italian Willy Gnonto is their right winger, so Callum Doyle had a difficult task before him. Doyle is in this Gnonto iso-vid quite a bit ...

Cracking game at Carrow Road if you have time to watch. Doyle looking a threat in attack and playing a peach of a pass at 07:48. Quite impressed by the lad Borja Sainz, too; think he’ll play at a higher level if given the chance.

I told everyone at the start of the season, this loan was a backwards move for Doyle.

He's too good for the Championship, too good for Norwich too. He's already won the league the season before.

Dont think any prem teams were at the table, Norwich were always the front runners, presume they promised the game time he needed. Only 2 starts shy of matching last season already. (due to injury etc)

It's great experience for him, Being a key player for a decent Championship team is better than being a bench warmer in the top flight.
Yes it's a similar level to last season bt he will still learn.
If he had gone to say Celtic he would have got some European experience but most of his games would have been against League 1 or lower standard teams.

Nearly another assist yesterday and a decent shot, too, but defensively he gave his man a little too much space at Bristol City’s second.

He’s had more, more impressive loans than THB, Delap, McAtee, Rogers etc. Also, can play both LB & CB. If anyone deserves a shot next year, it’s him.
Should 100% be part of the first team squad next season, even if it means moving someone like Ake on. I personally think Doyle has a higher ceilling than THB

Problem for a club like City is that every position has to be proven world class and how do you prove you can be that with loans. I would guess he will be sold and club will spend 50/60+ million on a proven CL defender.

Unfortunate cost of being one of best club sides in the world is it makes it very difficult to trust youth

Still difficult to say until we see him playing at the top level, but I think he could ultimately be shaped to play in the role that Stones has filled. He’s not blessed with great pace, which concerns me at fullback or at centre back, especially when playing a high line, but he more than makes up for that with a sharp football brain and his ability to pick a pass. Given the ageing defence we have and their expiring contract dates, keeping Doyle for 25-26 would make more sense than another loan or sale. Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol, with Doyle stepping forward could be a solid platform.
