He's a great defender who is struggling with injuries. That situation isn't going to improve. All 3 have been great players for the club but time waits for no man. Ake is not going to hold a permanent spot because he will be missing so many games.
Players Iike Bernardo and De Bruyne are also slowing down and taking longer to recover between matches.
Looking at the players Pep is bringing in, they all seem a younger fitter bunch.
The only reason I can see Pep holding onto Ake or Stones is for their experience but one of them has to go.

Really want him to get games here but Pep said he wants Reis to contribute immediately. Assuming he doesn’t loan him out, that’s Dias, Stones, Akanji, Gvardiol, Ake, Reis, Khusanov, Lewis and possibly another right back all fighting for positions. Including Doyle, that’s 10 players fighting for 4 positions.

If he does leave (and I hope he doesn’t), I hope we get a buyback clause put in because I think he’ll be top.
 
would love to see him given a chance next season i think he would struggle at lb if he was up against a quick winger he's a big unit but I'm sure phil worked with a sprint coach maybe that would help? I've always thought he could be molded into a player who could play dm maybe given a chance against lesser opposition? some of the long balls he plays are unbelievable he'd be perfect for us :)
 
Play him as LCB not LB.

For two reasons:
Gvardiol must always start
Doyle will find it easier to replace Ake
 
I don’t think he’ll get a chance at city. He’s seen as pure profit. I’d imagine Pusey will be questioning his future as well

After signing two highly rated, but unproven defenders it’s becoming almost impossible for our young players

The new lads have a few months to cement a place in the squad and so do fo a few of our "experienced but often injured" backs.
I think Pep will heed the warning he got this season with having to play and depend on injured players with a squad that he now admits is too small to compete across several competitions.
Doyle may get a squad place depending on how Ake and Stones fare with their injuries
 
I admittedly haven't seen him play enough (others can chime in), but it seems like he is quite strong physically with a good pass between the lines.

Looking at Norwich's last 4 games formation, he is playing LCB and not LB that I thought he might and maybe did earlier in the season, and that's why he has 6 assists.

But he is painfully slow, that would be my main worry bringing him back. Although tbf Dias is as well. If we played a back 4 which becomes a back 3, you probably want him in the centre battling the striker, rather than out wide dealing with the quicker wingers (like Khusanov can probably do).

The stats kind of show some of this, with very high tackles and interceptions (aggressive defender), as well as high progressive passes. It is still the championship, but he is still young and developing.

We also have O Reilly to play LB, so Doyle as a more defensive LB or primarily as a LCB is probably worth bringing back to see.

Thats why Maresca benched Callum last season, otherwise he has every other attribute. Pace/agility was his only issue.

But he is faster than Ruben Dias I think.
 
i think the 2 defensive signings probably seal his fate unless one of them is loaned out in summer (could see Reis being loaned out i guess) Think its a sale with doyle in summer tbh
 
Getting the rare opportunity to watch both City loanees live at Carrow Road tonight - will be good to see them in the flesh
