Sent me some liquid stuff with my appointment letter, told me take it 2 hour's before.Should be fun on the bus then.

you sure it says 2 and not 12 hours ?
Need to check letter tomorrow but I think it was only 2,must be powerful stuff.

usually the day before you only eat highly processed foods like white bread, rice pudding etc and the night before you start on the prep, then you are up half the night emptying you bowels until only the prep comes out, takes a good 10 hours

Or a really bad ten hours:(

For me the day before is always far worse than the actual procedure. The prep kills me every time.

I've had 9 endoscopes in total, trust me, the one down the throat is worse. Last time I had that my pulse went up to 180 and they had to stop the procedure. This one's a piece of piss though, you'll be sedated and won't even remember most of it, it's uncomfortable but manageable.

In summary: you'll live.

I have had this done and it's not pleasant, but not as bad as I thought it might be. The day before I had to take some kind of drink thing to clear everything out and I was told I couldn't eat anything at all that day. I didn't have any sedation as I didn't want to be woozy for hours after but I did have the gas and air, which didn't help much. It wasn't really painful but very uncomfortable, like having very bad cramp. It was strange watching on the screen and seeing what your insides are like.

I've recently had one down my throat but via my nose. very unpleasant. truth is a camera either end is fuck all. its what they are looking for that's the dodgy bit.

No need to worry mate.
You can choose sedation or not.
If you're sedated there's absolutely no hassle but you need a couple of hours to come round afterwards and someone to take you home.
I chose no sedation which means after the procedure you can simply leave yourself. There is momentary pain from time to time during the procedure which I found ok and bearable and you can alert them in the unlikely event it became too much.
I was nervous but after the event I thought what the hell was I worried about!
