Campervan from Manchester - 1 week in May - where do you go / stay

We own a campervan and have been all over. A week is not enough to do the NC500 you will just be driving all day every day. Lots of great places to see, but if you want something special in May I would put the effort in and drive to the coast in Devon and Cornwall.

Well no, passed through there a couple of times.
Out of the central belt is bliss if you're into scenery and fresh air though.
Yeah was only jesting, Scotland is beautiful. Used to drive to the Isle of Whithorn most summers and you'd be hard pressed to find better scenery anywhere.

Was there in May fella.
Did all that South Coast and found a stunning little beach near Borgue.
Me the missus and our 2 German Shepherds go up to Scotland 3 to 4 times a year and stay somewhere different each time. Staying near Dunkeld for New year next visit

I’m never allowed back to the same place either ;-)

Head to Northumberland, you won't regret it.

It will be unbelievably quiet and you'll feel like you've got the place to yourself. Huge, deserted beaches with caravan parks nearby are easy to find. It has some of the best beaches in the UK, phenomenal castles and history, beautiful villages and plenty of variety - the city life in Newcastle, stunning towns like Alnwick, Warkworth, Hexham and a bit of cheese at Whitley Bay. I'm sure there's more castles in Northumberland than anywhere else in England and they are spectacular in places. Warkworth and Bambourough are my favourite castles.

If you're into wildlife, there's trips to the islands to see birds like puffins, seals and other animals too. Lindisfarne is where the Vikings first landed and is worth visiting too. Honestly, you'll struggle to fit it all in there's so much to see - and the best bit is that it's so quiet. A busy day in Whitley Bay etc is like a Sunday at 4am in Cornwall :)

One thing that I always notice when we're up there is how friendly the people are. Genuinely caring people who will go out of their way to chat, recommend places or just pass the day.

Start at Newcastle, then head to Tynemouth on the coast. Travel up the coast through Whitley Bay etc then follow the coast road up. If you're into beaches, try Seaton Sluice it's like Formby but with no one there!

The whole place is absolutely stunning.
