cast your mind back to the rags....hate to say it but perseverance has paid off........

You pick one instance out and cling to it like the holy grail and you base your assumption on the notion that Hughes does have the abilty to be one of the best in the first place? Does he have what it takes? No gaurentee's mate!

Chelsea, Barca, Real Madrid, The 2 Milans etc all are constantly successful and all change managers frequently, they do it in the belief that there is a better person for the job?

hughes has accumulated several sensible good quality players, therefore assembling a talented squad....but they are a new squad.....teething trouble inevitable......can,t actually see a reason to get rid....6th in the table(4th if we win game in hand)....1/4 final of carling cup....please enlighten me.................
Just a thought?

Yes he has bought some quality players but i will pick a number of guys off here, never mind professional football managers, that given in excess off £200m would have done exactly the same, it's hardly an acheivment as far as im concerned.

As for new team...takes time to gel...i heard the same excuses last year. When those ran out he started to blame anyone he could, including the players and then stated he needed his own guys in and how anyone could or should expect him to do better didnt know what they were talking about.

This year he has failed again imo, given the level of talent we have in our squad. I dont base that on the league position, yes it's reasonable but only down to the failings of most teams around us, but on the complete lack of performance of late and his tactical failures.

We are now once again seeing his spin on this, long term plan, top 4 not the be all and end all, i know what im doing and so on and so forth.

Hughes was a perfect fit for us under thaksin, we didnt have a pot to piss in and prem survival was the order of the day.

But that all changed when the takeover happened. We were suddenly in a position to challenge. Money was no problem, our owners stated that we would go for the best and in my opinion, we should have gone for the best in managers as well.

I have nothing against him i just dont feel he is up to the job and that we can get better instead.

who???.............

Hiddink is available now, but my preference would be to go all out in the summer for Mourinho.

Both have the right profile and pedigree when it comes to managing the best and getting the best out of them.

That said mate, Hughes does still have the opportunity to make it his own this season and i really hope he does. I will be the first to celebrate him being our manager still in years to come as it means he has done the job we all wanted him too.

Unfortunatly i just dont think he will make it.

no reason or real justification for your pessimism.....mourinho simply won,t come....he,s after taggarts job.....MH needs at least 1 more year to make his mark....give him a break.....

The reason for the pessimism is the lack of performances. As for Mourinho, unless your his agent or him himself i find it incredible how you know for sure that he wouldnt come and that he is destined for the RAGS.

As for Hughes, he will get this season imo, finish top 4 and he will stay and rightly so, finish lower and i think he will go and rightly so imo. Our squad or should i say his squad has so much quality in it and the sudden implosion of Liverpool will never see us with a better chance of changing the order.

Time is something we dont have in abundance, our financial power wont last too much longer imo as it is only a matter of time before teams like the Arse or Liverpool or Spurs etc get their own very rich benefactors, making it all the harder for us. We really do need to establish ourselves this season as a genuine top 4 side.
